Battery/Starting Confusion

Ok guys. I still having probs with this car.

Saturday I found that one of the wires to the coil was not reading right, so I fixed it.

Car started 6 times w/o hesitation.

Sat over night, and then it had usuall problems in the morning, crank over, but not fire.

I was getting spark thru sparkplug on body test.

Tested that wire I fixed, it was fine.

I tested battery, WTF 10.67 volts.
Went inside for few, come back out, 12.01 volts??

Cranked car, while meter on bat. dropped to 10.7 and started, squealing noise from under hood, no animals under hood, volts shot up to 14.33/14.35.

Now, I noticed the belt is flapping a bit, so I'm sure the tensioner is bad and needs a new belt. But I have always thought that if the bat is bad/dead, it wouldn't crank at all. Has anyone else had similar experience??

Do you think bat is going bad as well as tensioner is also??

Could be the tensioner is the source of the problem. If it's bad the alternator is not putting out the full output and recharging the battery all the time. I'd fix the tensioner/belt and leave the battery alone unless it tested bad

Ok, fixed the tensioner and installed a new shorter belt as I felt the one that was on it was two long.

Drove it last night. Started fine a couple times.

Now it sat over night, no radio installed. It was still hard to crank in morning.

Think I have something shorted/staying on or a bad cell in the battery?? What is a good way to test a bad cell in the battery??

I'd have AutoZone give it the load test -- costs nothing and willtell you if it's good or not.

Is it hard to crank after sitting or does it crank okay and just take a while to start? Given the amount of work you did to the ignition, if it cranks okay but doesn't start quickly, I'd look at a fuel issue (leaky injector, bad fuelpump relay, etc.)

Starter spins fine, but wont fire.

Test battery with volt meter and its looses voltage over night.
