one rich 2.8

hey guys, i have a problem with my new v6. as some of you know, i just recently rebuilt my 2.8. my problem is that the motor runs rich. i have no idea why, all my vacuum hoses are hooked up, fuel regulator is hooked up. tps is hooked up, O2 sensor is hooked up. and i have no codes to boot. any ideas? oh yeah, and i am fowling pluggs every now and then. i have pretty new accel 8mm wires on it too. if anything, this motor should be runing lean cause it's been bored .040 over and the decks of the block and the heads have been zeroed, but there are times (not all of the time) when i get on it and i see a puff of black smoke in the mirror. any and all suggestions accepted.

Have you broken in the motor yet? My 2.8 use to run rich and give no codes until the motor had some miles on her. Hope I helped

Back to basics.
Weak ignition system
Recheck ALL vacuum hoses. FLIP over the hoses for viewing underside.
Since I did my swap back in Jan 2000, I still check & chase a vacuum hose leak every once in a while.
Did you rebuild the distributor? AND install ALL new internals? Coil new?
Again basics & common sesne will help ya with this question.

when i accelerate away from my house, my dad watches me leave and he says there is a little puff of black smoke coming out of the exhaust, like unburnt gasoline. and i can smell it from time to time.

move up a heat range in the plugs. break out dvm & check out resistance/continuity while twisting wires.
