All depends on YOU.
IF you can find a good block, sure good idea. But you can usually get a good engine outta the want ads for around 2-300. Why go through the trouble of a junk yard?
NOW if you are going to "truely" build the engine, all you wopuld want is the block, maybe the crank. Again depends on what you want to have done.
If you just want a cheap, quick swap thing, search the want ads, and try to find the trans first. No matter what is said, REBUILD IT. Get that first.
THEN get the engine. The trans will give t you the least rouble if it needs rebuilt. And if the engine needs work, you can get that done afterward. But you can always take solice that you have a good trans ready to go.
