that looks like part of a slp intake, painted red. 99% of cold air intakes are bs anyway, since most of them still suck up hot engine bay air

That's an item used on the 3.1 V-6 Firebirds & V-8 rides Firebird, also.
Cold Air is what it does bring to engine.
ACTUALLY Fresh air. From the factory coffee can in the corner called the "air cleaner".
I'll bet the seller is "not sure" but he does supply a pic for "help".
That's only part of the factory fresh air set up, tho.

That intake arm blows chunks. I have the stock arm on..I know.. Too many 90 degree bends...restricts air flow pretty bad. You can hear it in the engine when you wind it up...it hates that arm. Ran better with a conical right at the end of the rubber flex tube, even when it did pick up hot air directly from the radiator and fan, it STILL sounded smoother than with that arm on.

That's SOOO BS..and christ..someone bid $20 for it.

I think it is better than my stock air box. My first CAI was PVC, now its aluminum, both of them handmade for less then $20. That intake would only work for speed density cars too.

You are bidding on a cold air intake made to fit 82- 92 Camaro and Firebird
... by pontiac.
... painted red, by me, with a thin coat of spraypaint, for a substantial performance gain.

geez, people will say anything to make a sale.

Hey I painted my whole engine bay with a can of spray paint, so that means I gained 75 hp. 25hp for the driver fenderwell another 25 for the passenger fenderwell, and 25 for the firewall

I painted my plenum blue..because we all know blue is a cold color, so this is actually cooling the plenum down, in effect cooling the intake charge.. I'd say it gained me about three tenths in the 1/4. That and it matches the car now.

you're incorrect. you max out at a 47hp painting gain unless you install a type-R sticker, and even with that you can only get up to 68 tops...

but if you paint your engine compartment, you should do it with a high-heat engine or exhaust paint. it'll hold up a lot better in the long run.

(and blue only makes things colder if it's a dark blue)

Ok, I see why the CAI intake is BS now. I didn't realized that it was a stock component for Camaros. I'm a slow one.

Karl, Camaros got em too..90-92 did..possibly a little further back. My 91 Camaro had that exact same arm, but mine's painted blue now. Not kidding. Even has a little K&N sticker on it. I got pissed off after every home depot intake I made fell apart, so I painted and stickered the stock...never did get around to building another one the RIGHT way (which doesnt involve duct tape and twist ties)

Mine is so hokey looking.
That was a Camaro thing also?
Mine has Flex dryer venting hose, a 90* bend I found at swap meet & lots of duct tape to the original air inlet coffee can air box, I slightly modified.
Oh, plastic spacer between the Firebird Upper radiator & my hokey air set up, keep away the "Hot" generated heat.
Still can't upload a pic of my Hokey Air Inlet. Ah well.

Muhahaha... I made one out of two pieces of air conditioning duct and some duct tape (found the instructions in the tech articles here). I'd say I gained at LEAST half a horsepower from it, after I got around to spray-painting the ducts black.

But what else was I supposed to spend a Saturday morning doing?

Heh.... Yeah that piece is in all the 90-92's and POSSIBLY some of the late year 2.8's, not sure... I would've preferred a dual snorkel...although the filter is decently priced for the coffee can and I do have to admit it's so easy to work with...it's just MADE to be screwed with for several months and then replaced with something that REALLY works.
