How do I unstuck my fuel filter?
Ok I pulled the fuse, cranked it for a few seconts, then tried to get if off. Wouldn't budge, so I sprayed some WD40 on it every hour for 8 hours, still wouldn't move the next day still stuck. I know thier has to be somthing better than WD40, anyone know what its called and where to get it? Thanks.

You need two open end wrenches for the job. Put one on the filter and hold it in place while you untighten the fitting that goes into the filter. Or get some penatrating spray to put on it.

Ya, I know the wrench thing, anyone know the sizes offhand BTW, or atleast metric or SAE? Just wondering if anyone knows any really good brand of penetrating lubricat.

I think they were 10,12,14 mm. Mine came right off with no problems. Hey put your old filter on a weight scale when you have it off. Mine weighed almost a pound.

Good luck...
I found it was just easier too cut it out. get a few inches of some stainless covered hose and some double clamps. right next too the filter for our car on the shelf is one just like it with nippled ends for a hose instead of fitting. Im sure they sell more of the nippled ones.

Liquid Wrench, or PB Blast are probably the best penetrating oils we can get @ the AZ & stuff. remembering what my fuel filter looked like from when I redid my rear brake hose, I moght do the Gumby thing

Ill try some of that stuff I guess, but I have no garage and their is 19in of snow on the ground, so I guess that and my tranny fluid have to wait.

I love liquid wrench! Tried PB blaster, never seemed to work better than liquid wrench, I'd place them about the same level. But yeah, WD40 is mainly a lubricant (water-displacement #40), not too good for breaking bolts free with.

Go to your gas tank and follow the lines that come out of it, you should come across a 6inch long 2.5 dia cylinder somewhere under the driver side seat under the car. Unless someone removed the filter and put a hose or somehting inbetween the gas lines to delete the need for a filter

6in long? The one on my car is about 3in long, and so is teh replacement the gave me. In the hayes manul thing I think it said that the fuel filter for post 1985 models was in the rear of the car, older ones were in teh engine bay or somthing.

Maybie i'm wrong, and I know most people hate this manual, but i'm pretty sure thats what it says. It has an appendix section for 85 and up which says the filter is in the back, where the other section claims it is up further.

Where the light is on the gfx is where you can find the filter behind that about a foot, its up in a cubby, not exposed to any road obstacle.
