2.8 and/or 3.1L Header HP increase numbers please
Ok for any who have seen LT1Guy's thread...you know I got a set of headers for my 2.8 at a junkyard for $15.00. Now they need a repair on one tube due to a stress fracture, but they are repairable. OK so I have headers now. They are long tube. No clue who manufactured them. I ahve to get the muffler shop to add flanges and I will need a Y-pipe. The headers will be sand blasted and then ceramic coated (chrome look)...
Ok those are the plans. I'm wondering has anyone dynoed a 2.8 or 3.1 with headers to see what type of HP increase might be found from the addition of them? I just want to know what to expect.

Shannon I think you are the only one here who has a baseline dyno on your current setup, but once you put the headers on, please let US know!
I have some bone-stock and a lot of miles ET's on Kristy's car, eighth mile 10.84 at 68 or so, and I have a set of COMP 1.6 roller tip rockers I'm going to put on, so I'll run it again, try the same conditions as before (1/2 tank of fuel, around 65 degrees with a 125lb passenger/car owner)

I think you are right Eric. Seems there are alot of people who assume what the cars will run and not many who will get out there an race them or dyno them. It sucks cause I know something is still off with mine. I have never gotten what I feel are accurate numbers. I just wish some one with headers would tell me what they are pulling on the dyno...I wonder if anyone has them on and has gotten the car back on the road yet.
Well I will definately post Dyno and 1/4 mile times. We are planning to have them on in the next month. I'm going to p/u my new torque convertor tonight. The shift kit, I'm ordering today. 3.73 gears in the next month...so I hope the darn thing will finally run respectably on the track! I also have the new balancer. So there will be alot of changes!

Sweet! I can't wait to hear how it performs. On the wheels. I think Devian did one of the drawing with those rims. I believe I'm actually going with a more spokey rim style though. those are nice wheel though!
care to try a real performance chips with those headers ?just wondering ill do one at my cost $7.00 for the new chip and $5 for the prom carrier. if you send me your old prom carrier chips ( which i dont recomend) then ill knock the $5 off. just wondering how HP this setup ive been running in my buddys s-10 is capable of. email me and well talk !
hey my91rs
Hey my91rs I have a set of CHC headers too but
hav'nt put them on yet and was wondering did they
fit good everything line up ok. The welds on mine aint the greatest either but they will do.

Ive been poking around this side of the tracks looking to see if anyone had thier headders installed but havent seen anything. In general most poeple with an already good flowing setup gain 10tq and 10-20hp depending on the manifold they were using prior to the headders. A V6 shouldent differ from any other engine in this department.

Car is a 1987 Multiport fule injected 2.8L with a mass air sensor.
Functional ram air
Mass airflow sensor with screen removed
Ported upper intake, Runners, & Lower intake
Gasket matched head porting with polished chambers
19lb Ford fuel injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Reed cam’s TM276/282H12A2. This cam is 223/228 with 471/480 lift on 112 int C/L is108
160 degree thermostat
Throttle body bypass
EGR blocked off
long tube headers
2.5 in cat
Flowmaster exhaust.
Trans Go Shift kit
3.73 gears
Torque convertor with a 2400 stall
I'm sure I need the timing advance to be brought in quicker.
And the injectors are a bit overboard, so the the fuel curve will need to be stepped down.
I don't know of anyone that has ever tried this aggressive of a cam, so I don't know what you can do with that.
Let me know if you think you can bang out a chip that will work with all this. If so I'm definately interested, esp for $ you are asking. Any guarantee?

do you have a winaldl cable ??? im 100% sure i can nail in it the first 3 burns. sound like my friends s-10 ive been doing that one for over a year but it changes every time i get it right. he mods the truck again. ive got plenty of spare 2732b chips around what i do need is a scan of your current code running and the BCC code of the chip itself. this way i know where im starting from and how far off it is. now my instainct tell me the BCC shouldn be *** follows
HNR
3907
or something similar get me the code of the chip. just the numbers and letter on the shiny aluminuim. if you have acess to a laptop i can see the general error alot easier if you could log with winaldl !
yeah figure 12-15 per chip. including shipping. dont worry abouth the headers there not gonna really affect anything but PE mode anyways

i dug up some data i had from the s-10 project i found a bin that should run pretty good. you need to email me with your adress so i can send the chip out. it already burned sitting in a prom carrier wating to be sent out. i fixed the injkector sizing as well. should run pretty good.one last thing. chnage that 160 t stat with a 180 please. car wont run in closed loop till it hit 160 so gotta change that.

We have actually been talking about going to a 180. I have no heat. Now I have noticed in normal conditions the car, for some reason, naturally runs very cool. I think it might be the lower spoiler that everyone hates so much!
I will email the address to you now!

Ok no lap top... no winaldl cable... I'm that new to this. I had to run a search on it to find out what it even was (winaldl)...
I think I get the idea.
We don't have access to what we would need to get a scan of the current code running. Joe has a lap top at work, but we don't have the cable or the program.
I will check the BCC code tonight and get it to you!
