87 2.8 V6 ???

I have an 87 2.8 with tbi and auto-trans that I'd like to install cranes #250531 cam into[previously in 83 with 4bbl]. The specs are 204/427 216/454, card says 80-up,smooth idle, daily usage, light towing, economy, but crane's online spec card says"emission controled without computer". The tech at crane said[not to convincingly] that it should be o.k. The only mods I plan to make on this vehicle is the cam swap and maybe a catback freeflow exhaust. Anyone using this cam or having done extensive mods to a 2.8,I would appreciate your input !

I would agree with the Crane rep...its less radical than the cam Redraif is running, and hers runs fine with the computer 9also 87 2.8).

Its on her website I believe...

BTW its overcammed...it killed some low end torque, but the midrange and top are a lot better. Gas mileage also improved a lot, amazingly. It still has some tuning issues, but it doesn't code and sounds pretty mean for a V6.

Thanks for the info;my main issue is whether the cam will cause problems with the computer and drivability as I don't plan on any other mods other than the cam and cat back exhaust. I would be interested in hearing from others that have done mods to a 2.8.

We had to raise the idle speed slightly (adjustment screw on the throttle body), but that was the only issue. Drivability is actually better now IMHO.
