unknown kinda problem???

when i step on it(especially from a dead stop), it will act as if it wont shift into the next gear. in first it will redline and stay, till i back off a little, then upshift into the next gear, second gear will almost redline, but still wont shift untill i back off, and so on. today i was going 100mph then finally it shifted, and was able to go to more speed!! what might be the problem, and how do i fix it?? and does anybody else have this problem??

i have 700r4, with 3.1v6

Sounds like you have a mal adjusted TV cable. I had the same problem with shifitng properly. Check out this link on how to adjust it, https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/detent.shtml
