Got mixed # of questions a/b my 3.1

)Well to start off..my engine bay looks like complete trash. My car was in PA and now in Ohio and its seen its share of rough rough winters so the body is rusting along with some metal parts on the engine. I was looking for an engine dress up kit.. (i.e-r*ce wire, chrome) stuff i could replace this rusted pipe with a chrome one, or my air filter lid ( i have yet to built a CAI simply because I dont know what to do with the MAF that seems to be in there?) But does anyone make cheap steel/aluminum/chrome/whatever parts that i could use to dress up my engine. I was also looking around to see if i could find a chrome plenum but no look so far So then i figured I could find a stainless steel TB, maybe hit it with some Nev'r Dull ( I love that stuff) and it would shine. But no... So all thats basically where could i find this, how much would i be spending ?
Questions 2. I just got around to starting on TomP's major tune up, I went it the Summit Retail store (which is kickass cuz itsl ike 10 minutes away from where I live in Tallmadge) And picked up New rotor/cap,ACCEL spark plugs, and this that and the other.. spent about 100 bucks. Well replaced the K&N Filter, and i got to thinking about building a CAI. Would it change anything as far as sound wise? What would i do about disgarding the housing and clearing that area out as far as wires/the MAF sensor and such..Im basically a mechanical virgin and I have no idea what i'm doing but i figured its best to learn from trial and error. So how would I go about building the CAI and where would i find a REAL metal pipe to run because I dont want PVC pipe in there, obviously when im trying to dress up the engine. and the last.. I've got a strange sound coming from my belt, it sounds like it needs degreased because it keeps squeeling and i sprayed it with the cure-it-all, WD40, and it stops then squeeks again 10 minutes later.. i cant figure it out??? I've probably got more questions but I'll leave those for another time since i've typed like 3 pages here.. thanks guys

Stow huh? I live real close by, in Springfield, about 4 miles from the airport. What a coincidence. I hardly see any 91-92 RS Camaros around here, and very rarely do I see any nice ones. Yours isn't red with tail and front blackouts is it? I've been seeing it alot around here recently, looks really nice, alot better than mine, and I keep mine in good shape considering it's a thirdgen!

Anyways, regarding the CAI, I personally was going to build a homemade CAI, until I seen WWasem's. And since I am a mechanical newbie as well, and prefer to do as little work as possible, I might look around on Ebay or something and see if I can get one cheap. Here is the link to the SLP CAI WWasem has installed in his 92 3.1,

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=160348

although it doesn't look much different from that extremely restrictive air box in our cars, the opening is WAY bigger. That tiny air scoop on the side of the can is rediculously small. As far as noise goes, I can't comment, although when I did drop in my K@N I noticed a little extra noise, but this was probably due to the fact that the former air filter was extremely dirty. Guy before me did not take care of the car.

I might be into building a custom CAI as well, although I want to hold that off until I get a Dynomax cat-back system to use in conjunction with the CAI.

As far as the engine dress up kits are concerned, I can't help much. Although Ohio winters totally suck, my engine bay is actually not rusted whatsoever. Wish I could say the same about the undercarriage and the wheel walls. I have seen a couple of pics of bright orange wires running through an otherwise stock looking MPFI, didn't think it looked to good personally, as I prefer stock. I'm sure somebody else however can help you out there, I've noticed a couple of 3.1 guys running engine dress up kits here a while back.

BTW, living right near Summit definitely does have it's plusses!

As far as the belt.. uhm.. count this as your first mechanical mistake. Do NOT lubricate your belts with WD-40 Lubricants make things slip. The idea with belts is to keep them FROM slipping. The squealing is the belt slipping. Usually this means a belt is old or loose. If the belt's deflection is within specifications (1/4"-1/2") and it's slipping, it's old or contaminated. Bar soap (Ivory, preferrably) or belt dressing may hold off the slippage for a few months, but it's at the risk of stranding yourself if the belt breaks.

Cure: Well, before the WD-40, I'd have said the belt was loose.. but now I'd say the belt is contaminated beyond repair. New belt. Before you put it on, clean, and I mean *clean* every single one of those pulleys the WD-40 came in contact with using something that won't make them slick. Get that WD-40 out of there.

EDIT -----
Laf. I'm intelligent. Just read back and noticed you had a 1992.. serpentine belts don't get loose thanks to the joys of tensioners. Slipping belt means it's shot, contaminated, or, worst case scenario, one of your accessories siezed, but that would be accompanied by clouds of smoke too. (Nasty thing I saw on a truck once.. AC Compressor straight seized with the clutch engaged. Car had to be towed because of it. Sad sad thing to see a car get towed for.)

Axle/Gears: A weak one & a chained one
MAF: If your car is a 92, there is NO MAF... If there is one..either it's not hooked up, or that's a 2.8 motor and not a 3.1, meaning it's the victim of a motor swap...a dumb one at that. So..the sensor I assume you mean would be..I think it's he IAT...Intake Air Temperatue, something like that.

Free temporary intake:

See the black can? See the sensor sticking out of it? That's it. Disconnect it, and take the intake arm off. Take the center holding bolt out and yank the entire can out. Get that sucker held down nice, and use a wrench to screw that sensor out...might get some liquid wrench or something, they're usually in there pretty solid. Get that sensor out, and keep that intake can laying somewhere safe...now, get the K&N filter you got..I assume it's a stock replacement-type.....reconnect the sensor, and lay it down and tape it in place so the wire leads under the edge of where the filter sat inside the can. There will be an extra hole also in the mounting surface, aside from the bolt hole...plug that with some tape. Lay the filter down so the sensor wire goes under the filter, and the sensor sits INSIDE it. Lay the lid over the filter and bolt it back down, MINUS the filter can. Reconnect the arm and check it out. It's not an insane difference because that arm sucks so bad...but it's a nice, COMPLETELY free mod..and you don't have to worry about trying to fit extra parts, etc.
