Help Me With Part Decisions!

Hey guyz! It's been awhile since I've posted here but I got a few questions about my '88 Camaro that I'm fixin up this summer! Right now I know that I need to get:

Exhaust - I'm thinkin Dynomax Super Turbo, $154.95 from Summit, sound good?

Radiator - I think I'm gonna buy a used one off somebody, I think I've found someone that has a good one that'll give me their radiator for $10

Fuel Lines - Still stuck on this one.... Where can I get em?

I'll prolly need more stuff but I haven't ripped into the motor yet to see wut I need! I know I need a paintjob, but that comes later!! I also know I'm gonna do TomPs Major Tune-up, cause my Camaro needs it!

Anything else I should know b4 diggin into this project? Nething I should get? what should I check?? Thanx in advance guys!!!

All the answers are so simple. Ya budget is your guide.
A used radiator, unless it's checked for leakage, ain't worth even $10!
I use Accel stuff. I have for over 20 years.
I get the stuff replaced under the lifetime warranty.
I recently got a new set of Accel 8.8's by returning old set of Accel plug wires I had.
I always use Accel coils.
Rest of stuff is up to you and the condition of your current engine.
I recently paid $30 for a new wrecking yard Z-28 muffler I found. Paid $40 to have it installed and the guy tossed in a new set of 3" exhaust tips. The brand I grabbed was an Arvin, which is Walker stuff (I believe). Arvin supplies MANY OEM exhaust stuff to the manufactures. Meaning, it's usually the OEM stuff ya see on new dealer ship floor ride.
Spend the money on only items that can easily be swapped over to a new mill, if ya plan on an engine swap in the future.
Good luck with choices.
PS Give money to local businesses. Tell them to match the price ya may buy from a mailorder place. You win and so does the local economy. Happy shopping, even at 1 AM!

I like my dynomax except for one thing. They put the cat flange on it backwords, and I didnt notice tell I had the whole system on, and all car parts back on but it. Spent little more then hour, hacking and making it fit. So check that before you pull one part off that car.

I like accel products, except their wires. Deffenitaly go with something 8 to 8.8mm spirol wound. Brand is up to you.

Serach on here, and make a high flow air intake for it also. OR do as I recently have, and installed a TPI intake system from late 80's v8 engine.

Cap/rotor, go full brass, only 2-3 more buxs. Brand is up to you.

Radiator, get writen guarantte with it, otherwise you could be blowing 10 bux. Radiators are touchy, and is prob one of the top 5 things that cause engine falier.

Happy Hunting and tinkering.

I lucked out with both of my Dynomax systems; hopefully they've fixed their problem by now! But yeah if your car isn't running at all, fix it up, then go for the speed parts. Hell, just by getting it running again, you'll make it faster!

#1 purchase you should make: http://www.helminc.com/helm/Result.a...CAMA&Year=1988 BUY THE SHOP MANUAL ($90)!!! That's worth more to you than the exhaust system. You might be able to find one off eBay for cheaper.

Thanx for the link TomP, I think I might be buyin that! It runs, its just that the exhaust rusted out at the cat and dropped, so its really loud and it runs really hot b/c of the radiator! I'll get those fixed soon! I talked to my dad today, he gave me the camaro, it was his, and he said hes all about helpin me get it fixed up, so now i'm definetiley goin for it!! He said we'll prolly have to rebuild the front end, but he said he'll help pay for that! Thanx for the replies guys, now I gotta start savin! First thing is the TomP Major Tune-up!

I think that Classic Industries carries the fuel lines. Their web site isn't the greatest. Their phone number is 1-800-854-1280
