90-92 3.1L Injectors
90-92 3.1L Injectors
Was wondering if you guys/gals that have had your cars for a while could tell me if these injectors are "known" to be problematic/unreliable? Also, are these injectors the same ones used in the 2.8L motors and are they rated at 12lbs/hr and the 3.4's at 15lbs/hr?

The injectors in our cars are Multec...they aren't GREAT injectors, but they're decent I believe. Although Ford injectors are much much better. 2.8 and 3.1 liter injectors are probably the same lb/hr rate..although 12 lb/hr sounds very low to me....but maybe that's just because I'm used to my V8 that has 19 lb/hr stock...

2.8l=13lb
3.1l=15lb
3.4l=17lb
According to cruzinperformance who cleans injectors says that the multitecs are some of the worst injectors out their.
I am still trying to find a ford product that has 15lb injectors in it

They show the stock replacement injectors for the ’85-92 2.8/3.1 in the F-Bodies to be 15lbs units. They also show “Plus 1 thru Plus 3” performance increase levels that are 17/19/21 lbs/hr respectively. I can get a set of 17lbs injectors from Summit for around $175.00. I think that would be a good choice for my engine (I used their injector sizing formula and guesstimated as to some of the variables) due to the low restriction intake/exhaust I’ll be using. Opinions??
Also, has anybody used the Accel injectors? Is their quality any good??

I know I put 17lbs in my 3.1l and it ran rich, and used more gas. Maybe you will have better luck then me.
I will try and find whatever you downloaded and take a look
my91rs and a few others have accell units in their cars. Alot of v8 guys do also. They seem to be the favorites of aftermarket injectors.

I'd be skeptical of upgrading injector size. Even with a better intake and exhaust, I honestly don't think you'd gain any power out of larger injectors without any internal engine work. I think you'd actually run rich like Dale did and LOSE power. I'd stick with a stock size unless you plan to upgrade the car quite a bit. Then...I forget how Chevy injectors and the MAF work...but on Fords, you have to upgrade the MAF AND injectors with compatible units. For example, I have 19 lb/hr injectors stock..I couldn't throw 24 lb injectors in on the stock MAF...they wouldn't work right..so I'd have to buy an MAF specifically calibrated for 24 lb/hr injectors. Pain in the *** if you ask me....
Edit: Ignore the MAF comments....you don't have an MAF.

argh...my injectors went at 51,000 miles then the other 3 went at 53,000. I now have AC delco injectors in my car and they really smoothed my idle out. I don't know details on them except they cost $119 a piece

Yeah..you got ripped BIG time man. I had a mechanic put in a set of brand spankin new Ford Motorsport 19 lb/hr high flow injectors (I assume high flow means a better pintle design or something)...he ordered them from the local speed shop, AutoPro Racing...it was $250 for a set of 8. Ford wanted $900 for the same exact set.
