ok here is my baby- the interior is in excelent condition, the engine has 149 k but runsgreat, had a recent compression test and is running better than it was new!- i have rear black outs and hatch louvres, it has the usual rust nothing bug little spots here and there but ..... the reason shes going is the tranny is shot.. no third gear - cant afford to fix it- brings a tear to my eye- i was thinking maybe 500 - what do you think?

Don't see why you couldn't get that much for it..it's a good-looking car (love the hood bird!!)
If it were here (Victoria, Canada) you could sell it for probably 1200...so 500 American sounds in the ballpark..

500 is a damn cheap price..then again the tranny is shot...but still..body looks very straight. Also..by 'better' on the compression test, I assume you mean the numbers were higher? Well...higher OR lower is worse...lowers means blown rings or something, and higher means buildup in the combustion chambers or on the pistons that's causing a raise in the compression. Just thought I'd fill you in.

i think you could get a better price than that. the body by itself is worth over $500, and you DO have an engine and tranny in it, even though they're struggling. i think $750 would be a reasonable price.

hey dont know if this will help but it might...i live in florida...have a 87 v6 camaro...blew the tranny..thought the car was done...but found a used tranny with 70 000 miles on it at a junk yard for $150, oddly enuff, the tranny has a warranty
the first day i got my car back from my shop....it runs waaaay better than before it went in the shop (it sat for 2 weeks wit blown tranny) now the tranny is perfect, shifts great, and to my surprize, my car seems to be twice as fast. I might have just got lucky on this one...but if u look ull probly find a cheap enough tranny that will work. =)

junk yards up here ( dutchess county) are pretty common but, pretty much all of the third gens iv found were completely raped- so id say you got really lucky,my car has been sitting with the blown tranny since september- she runs fine still but iv already made up my mind that it would be better for me to let her go- i had a good run- as soon as i get a chance to dig it out of the snow i might throw it on the classifieds- thanks guys

Plus... you say you don't have the coin to fix it... and you say you want something reliable... so what kind of reliable car can you get for no money? 'Course, that's my logic for always fixing my own car- and I have less problems- and no monthly payments- then my friends with new cars!
I paid 200 for a 2.8 carbed camaro with a blown motor, that wasnt that clean. That car is worth at least 500, but what will hurt you is the blown tranny. I suggest the junkyard tranny swap. I blew the tranny on my camaro and paid to get it rebuilt. Keep it as a driver, that car is very clean by the looks of it, and then get the V-8 one. Thats what I did. Its nice to have a camaro for a daily driver with decent mileage, but then again its nice to have a car that can actually spin tires.

wow-I live right near there- off old state road, anyways my car is an automatic, there would have to be a little more work done than besides swapping the tranny, - lol speaking of montclair- soon enough you'll see my car parked acrossed the street in that mini used car lot- I go Iona college in new rochelle- about an hour south, graduated from lourdes last year. - although my car runs like a raped date it does have high milage and i see the tranny going as a sign that there are other things soon to follow. thanks though-
