Coolant Drain Plug

I am trying to find a drain plug on the engine for the coolant, if there is one?. My Haynes manual says there is usually one half way back on the engine, some times on each side. I have searched the engine and all I can find is a bolt on the passenger side just above the starter motor. I opened this bolt and nothing happened. There seems to be a block off inside the bolt. Am I looking in the right place for the drain plug?. How do I get the coolant out of the engine?. Please help.

I just did my timing chain gasket and disconnected the lowere radiator hose to drain the coolant. I am unaware of any drain plug for the coolant. Pulling the hose will get 90% of the coolant out.

Coolant Drain Plug.

I done that but there is still coolant in the block. I got to fix a leak near the water pump and there is still water behind the hole even with the radiator drained and the hoses off. Anyone know if there is a drain plug?

Very simple what ya use.
Rags, sponges, newspaper.
Hole behind water pump equals bad timing chain cover.
The aluminum gets eaten by poor maintenance.
I know.
I've replaced two.
I caused one to go bad.
Just soak it up with a rag & it'll be fine.

On the side of the block behind the oil filter. Need to remove oil filter to get to it.
