some 3.1 problems

i just got my exhaust redone; 2.5in pipes, "flowmaster equivalent", better then stock flowing cat. anyway, now some of the engine problems are starting to show. that clogged cat and stock broken muffler were masking some of the problems i think. it will backfire in neutral when rev dropping and there seems to be a hiss coming from the engine that wasnt there before. vacuum leak somewhere? that would be causing it to backfire too right? i got to check the timing on it. i dont think its an exhaust leak but i will have to check the muffler's shops work.

on the good side, power seems to be there. pulls a little harder then it was before the exhaust work. something just doesnt sound right about it.

What do you mean by rev dropping? Are you revv'ing the motor in neutral?

yeah revving it up in neutral. not even close to 5-6k tho. just a real rapid throttle blip to 4500 or so.
