You mean replaced with a standard fuseable link? As long as it's the same rating... which one got fried?

Well, its not fryed, but the wire is now to short for a standard new lug on the end.

Its the "16" that has one orange on one end, and two red out the other end.

I am wondering if I can replace it with a waterproof flat blade style holder.

ABSOLUTLY NOT NO NEVER CHEAT!
You'll fry set the wiring on FIRE IF anything ever happens.
FOR A $2 fix?
Want one for FREE!
I have a spare when I MELTED THE WIRES TO STARTER BY HOOKING UP BATTERY WRONG!
Opps!
I replaced, soldered ends, use heat shrink wrap over the soldered splice ends.
NEVER CHEAT ON FUSIBLE LINK WIRING NEVER!

The easiest way to explain is actually on your own vehicle or the parts store.
Let's go to the car first.
Find the two wires to the starter.
FUSIBLE LINKS
Can you tell by looking?
I couldn't either.
How to tell they are fusible & they do the job!
EASY, DO LIKE ME THE IDIOT!
Cross the battery cables on your battery and hit the key!
They turn to melted goo by the time you catch on ya screwed up BIG TIME!
AND the SMELL!!! (all sing now.....OOHHH THAT SMELL!!!)
Instant viewing equals a burnt to the crisp outter plastic coating & visible wires. Wave away the smoke first!
How to find at parts store, ask someone, cause they look just like regular THICKER wire.
And they come, just like fuses, in various "ratings".
Serious, this fusible link wiring is a protection to prevent complete electrical wire harness meltdown which equals wire fires which equals (in a Corvette example) a molten pile of melted fiberglass over steel frame plus ya get to examine the steel cords in radial tires and those steel springs in the seats!!

Serious on the wires to starter as the best in your car example.
Those are the ones I fried when I crossed my battery cables on the Blazer 3.4 swap project! OPPS!
