Question on 2.8 Injectors

Ok, I need to know the flow rate, at what pressure, and the duty cycle of the 2.8 injectors @ 5500rpm.... anyone?

Also need to know stock fuel pressure, and max safe fuel pressure on my '88 2.8 setup.

Stock fuel pressure is 37-45 psi I belive. All mpfi years

Flow rate is aprox 13 at 44psi for the 2.8l injectors.

You sure? I'm trying to figure out if the 2.8/3.1 are the same, or what... and that would be 15lbs/hr injectors. If they ARE 13, I'm gonna have to yank some out of another car. Maybe 3.4 injectors or something...

2.8, 3.1, AND 3.4 all use different injectors.

2.8l=13
3.1l=15
3.4l=17

all of them are at the same pressure rating. MOST injectors are rated at approx the same pressure. Like +/- 2 psi.

What could I find a set of 20-22 lbs/hr injectors in? 305? I think the 350 uses 24, but I'm not sure.

Also, with a set of 20 lbs injectors, in a 2.8, reprogrammed injector constant to 20lbs... would my pulse width fall too low at idle?

305 TPI uses 19 lbs/hr, 350 TPI use 22 lb/hr.

The 3.1l turbo uses 22lbs/hr. So they would most likely work out.

RBob.

Some Grand Prixs, and maybe others, had a 3.1 turbo. Ford 5.0s and 4.6 SOHC motors use 19lb injectors (except Cobras) that will work.

3.1 turbo..no sh*t...wow... Never knew!!

I can testify to the Ford injectors...the 5.0 regulars AND the HO's both came with 19 lb-ers factory...I love how they're color coded too. I believe orange is 19 lbs.

They're interchangeable. The injectors F-bodies used are Multecs....but I believe some swap out Ford injectors...I hear they're better quality.

so what injectors do you think would be a good upgrade for me? im not looking for any huge power. right now i only have a high flow cat and a dynomax catback. im planning on porting and polishing heads and intake, ram air kit, roller rockers, etc, etc. maybe a cam down the road too. what do you guys think?

Clean your originals or injectors off another 2.8 or 3.1, depending on what you have. Upgrading won't give you any extra power I don't think, and having the injectors cleaned will help quite a bit. Rich at Cruzin Performance apparently does a very good job..several people on this board recommend them, including Tom. I don't know how to contact them or anything, so anyone that does, please step in here.

But then again, the future mods are a decent list...if you have a 2.8, maybe you can drop in 3.1 injectors...but the ones you have now will probably suffice for most anything you do.

Ford injectors are rated at a lower pressure than ours... 38psi vs 43.5psi, I think. 19bs Ford injectors will flow more than that in our setups - more like 21.75 lbs @ 43.5 psi. Hmm...

I recently heard somewhere that Ford injectors are rated at the same pressure as GM (43.5), but Ford typically runs them at a lower pressure (39). This was from someone who claimed to have tested them.
