EXACTLY which hoses?
Emissions
1985 is a one year stand alone design
Radiator hoses
Camaro/Firebird are different. Upper inlet hose.
Heater core hose routing is the same with both vehicles
Here's mine with my hokey air inlet set up before I reused my original stuff. So ya know, I have lost power reusing the original air inlet stuff. That Firebird plastic box thing really backs up air flow. I need to have a tube/pipe made instead of the dryer hose I used.
That is a low milage 1995 3.4 under my `85 induction/ignition system. I did the same thing to my Blazer, used the 1985 induction/ignition system.
ONLY way for an effective power increase.

Well, mine is an 87 Firebird, but it might help you out a little.

Pay no attention to the blue lines - those are just wire looms. The green and orange are the hoses.

emissions routing is the one im having problems with
the ones off the back of the intake manifold and right next to the distibutor are the biggest problem
thanks everyone

I got the hoses http://www.hosetechniques.com.

I am going to swap all of the silicon hoses for silver. I can't believe I chose green and orange. Well, when you have so many colors options compared to just black, you kind of go crazy.

When I get around to changing them all to silver, I will get rid of them. I will give them away to any who would want them. I would hate to just throw them away.

Here is EXACTLY what you need to do.
Do not truly vary from this or you will never get it correct.
Unbolt the TOP of the intake set up, (10mm TWELVE POINT SOCKET), take top piece & ROTATE/FLIP over toward PASSENGER SIDE NOT DISTURBING ANY connections.
This can EASILY be done, IF YA SLOWLY ROTATE & see items binding/holding back.
NOTHING NEED BE DETATCHED, just flip & rotate over.
The item you seek is where you said.
WHAT YOU BUY TO FIX IS
1/2" HEATER HOSE.
FIND THE THICKEST SIDE WALL HOSE YOU CAN,
not CHEAP THIN WALL STUFF.
IF YOU USE THIN WALL THE HOSE WILL COLLASPE DUE TO ENGINE VACUUM & WASTED EFFORT!
Next buy about 12" or so. Maybe longer
Make several short lengths of 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2".
I don't recall EXACTLY HOW LONG/SHORT, just get enough to make sure it's proper length.
Remove the old hose and the PVC plastic piping back there. FYI ALL THIS PVC EMISSION PLASTIC HOSE IS DISCONTINUED, so be aware.
Take engine oil and lube the fitting on the manifold. Lube the inside of the rubber hose & have fun, yep, have fun.
It fights ya.
But you need seat the short section of 1/2" THICK WALLED heater hose over that fitting and be sure it SEATS VERY VERY VERY WELL. Make sure you get it all the way down the fitting.
I needed to attempt this several times before I had success and I used oil often to lube the fitting & several short sections of hose until I had success. IT SUCKS THIS MISSION.
Once done, CHECK ALL THE PLASTIC HARD LINES for ANY CRACKS.
IF you find any crack in the plastic THIN hard lines EASY FIX TIME!
5/16" windshield wiper hose, make a short section.
Add spit to the thin plastic line, slip the short 5/16" section over, join the plastic lines again.
WORKS PERFECT!
Danger areas.
EGR section, due to exhaust manifold heat, it causes that area to crack often.
Any junction blocks ya seek (like on throttle bore area) to fit better, use needle nose pliers to remove the plastic end (if broke inside) and then join together with new 5/16" short section and keep on going.
Any ends that feel loose over the end fitting spot, cut off the rubber, make new tighter fitting ends.
It's tedious.
These MPFI cars need 100% ZERO VACUUM LEAKS TO RUN RIGHT!
Even after ya do the hose mission, it still may be rough. Good.
Your vacuum signal is now strong, exposing other signs of a weak emissons system.
Right now I am battling bucking/hesitation due to a weak spring in the EGR valve. See my "BUCK THIS" thread.
My end result is I need buy new EGR valve.
It's part number 17110799.
Rest of your hose things/fittings may just need good cleaning with tiny screwdriver, to remov the carbon build up and new gaskets to make sure all items are sealed correctly.
Again this is tedious, but rewards are like driving a new car for almost free fix (except gaskets or EGR valve) cause the hose is about $1-2 bucks!
I hope this guides ya well.
When ya reinstall the top intake piece, it literally falls back into place.
FYI BE AWARE ya MAY need to change top manifold gasket IF YOU ARE NOT LUCKY.
I've been lucky doing this twice and top manifold survivied well.
GENTLY hand tighten the top bolts in a cross pattern and tighten each slightly, go over again, tighten etc. YOU ARE TIGHTENING INTO ALUMINUM it can strip but if ya go easy, gently, ya good!
OH Last tip, the short hose section ya remove from back manifold HAS SHRUNK due to age/engine oils, etc.
SO cut the replacement LONGER!
PS Have FUN! Been there TWICE
When I did my 3.4 engine swap I spent a WHOLE DAY doing this project to be sure. Then had to fix again, due to lack of full knowledge. No biggie rewards are worth it!

Opps!
This is the one ya need!
For the rest, 1985 is a one year stand alone hose routing design. It is similar to other years, but 1985 vacuum hose routing is unique.

Simple to say this, as I've done this TWICE WITHOUT THIS DIAGRAM.
EVERYTHING falls into place.
When I swapped the 2.8 for the 3.4, I hadn't a SINGLE PREVIOUS PHOTOGRAPH OR DRAWING TO WORK FROM.
Once ya take off the top manifold, it all falls into place.
Disconnect the air cleaner boot before ya remove the top manifold.
IF ya choose to follow my clear instuctions, you will have success.
Again, it all falls into place, ya got the diagram, take off the top intake piece and get to work.
NO need to recreate hard plastic lines, just patch as I've said.
My engine vacuum is at 17 while in drive. Right now it ain't due to bad EGR valve.
Honest, my answer can't be much more clear. That area ya seem to fear is very buried under all this stuff in many people engine bays.
GO to a wrecking yard for comparison for your needs.
That's what I tend to do when I don't have a clear image of the finished product.
You will have success.
My tips worked for many others questions about the vacuum hoses.
IF ya need better than this, go to a GM dealer give teh parts guya soda, ask him to print out the PVC system for the 1985 model year 2.8 60* V-6 set up.
YET, having that paperwork, also, it ain't much more help than that simple diagram I've offered and your own hands on the car doing this project. It is simple to do.
Time consuming YEP, yet, simple to do.
PS if ya worked on the F Body assembly line doing this project, ya had less time to hook up vacuum hoses, than spent reading this response.
Got it?
