What do you guys think of a mini spool diff. as a low-cost alternative to Limited Slip?
Particularly this one:
MOTIVE GEAR Part # MS7528 {Mini Spool; 28 Spline}

I hear that they aren't reccomended for daily drivers. It makes the axel solid as where an LSD will allow both wheels to spin freely.

LOL Yeah they're fine for the street, if you like squeeling your tires anytime you try to turn because you no longer have a differential. You'll probably end up twisting the splines on the stock axles too since they aren't designed to handle that kind of abuse. It'd be fine if it's a strip only car, that's trailered to the track and only has to turn at pit speeds.
If you want to see the effect on the cheap, pop the cover and clean the differential with a couple cans of carb cleaner, and weld up the spider gears. It'll probably hold for a few days before the welds break.
