Cold Air Intake
I am getting an 85 SC V6 tomorrow, and the air cleaner assembly is missing. all it is is the hole for the intake. There is a lot of space between the engine and the fan, perfect place to put an intake pipe possibly sticking down or something to get good air. Does anyone know if I can just run to auto zone and get one for a honda or something that is the metal pipe with the cone filter on the end. Also, what is that wire plugged into the side of the metal pipe on the intake? its a sensor I think, but what kind and how can I find it to hook up? I have heard that this website or some other one sells cheap intake specifically for these, anyone know where and how much?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

Not trying to be a jurk. Use the search button, this has been done over time n time again.
You can install a autozone eruo hot air intake if you choose. I made my own, then when to the v8 tpi intake.

That sensor is the MAF. Should be a big tube piece with a wiring harness/clip coming out of it. MAF's are a royal PITA to work with.

Except yours looks cooler.
Project...we need to get more people to contribute to that! It REALLY needs to be a sticky! People are SO interested in intakes and it's such a common subject that a sticky would make total sense.

I like it becasue it seems to be the only TRUE cold air intake. Its GM parts, and looks stock. I notced from my home rig CAI to this, the exhaust tone was tad deeper. No performance change. Seems to get same mpg.
BTW, my car didnt have any intake system on it when I bought it. It was missing.

The TPI-style intake isn't the BEST there is..there can always be better...but I'd say it's the best stock equipment setup. Don't know how it'd fair to, say, a PVC conical setup, but probably pretty damn close. If only the same companies that made performance, custom-bent intakes for slow Hondas could make them for slow domestics as well... Sigh. Guess we'll have to wait for the day we can say we have an AEM CAI kit.
i suppose if you had the ***** yo ucould just cut a hole in the front of your 3rd gen where the tpi filters are. when i look at my car i just cant help but think how those tthings breathe, theres a huge metal plate in front of them, now that i think about it, i bet yo ucould make a pretty good looking ram air setup with the right tools and a really good fabrication shop...what do you think?

Problem is how high the radiator rises, and how the thing is arranged. It'd be AWESOME looking to have two huge air ducts on the nose, like on a Camaro, right by the badge, in that angled area..one on either side.. But the radiator is in the way. The way the car is..there's no real way to cut any part of the body for better intake..there's no room to route anything without removing vitals like radiator, headlights, battery, etc.
