ok well i got my 2.8 running today (man it feels great to have a running car) and i havent driven it very often so i dont really know when to shift at. it also doesntt have a tach, speedo, fuel...the whole dash is taken out for now...so what rpm do u guys shift at?

 

With my auto, If I really push it, I can get it to shift at 5500 rpm maximum, which is coincidently the rev limit I put on my accel box. I normally shift it at 4,000 rpm. Anything past 5000 rpm and my engine sounds like it will self-destruct.


I drive at a pretty consistant and slow speed so I like to shift at 3,000-3500 rpm.

It would be cool if I could shift in the 6-7k range.

 

if im just normal driving i just leave it in D or OD and let it shift itself. but if im playing aroud i manually shift it at about 5,000. my car doesnt make much power past that so thats where i stay. i also have my 5" tach and shift light on my dash set for 5,000rpm

 

if im manually shifting mine i normally go for around 3 to sometimes 4, car kinda seems like its bout to blow in the 4k range

 

If I'm manually shifting... oh wait, I HAVE to shift.

Seriously, round town slow driving, around 2500-3k. If running her, about 5200 I shift.

 

I drive a stick as well, so if I'm just pokin' around town, I shift at 2500 maximum. But if I'm trying (heh, trying ) to get up to speed on a highway onramp, I'm shifting at the 5000 - 5500 range.

 

just above 2200 rpm

 

I shift at about the 3000 range. It gives me decent milage and lets me keep up with all of the faster traffic that you find in L.A.
