Alternator

ok guys i got a problem, my alternator is dead...no suprise its a pep boyso ne and my stereo killed it. So i decided to get a powermaster from summit. I looked it up in the book and figured the tpi alternator is the same thing as the one for the v6...its looks identical and i was told before its the same thing...just might be clocked different.....wich dosent matter anyway because i extended my harness to acocunt for that.

But summit is tellin me that it wont fit and that i need a 359 dollar one. This is of couse much different than the $165 tpi. does anyone know if i can use that tpi one and is summit just full of it?

This one will fit- 140amp Powermaster- Its the same bolt pattern on my CamaroV6 alt as my V8 alt I have in my '89 Chev 1/2ton truck. I have a TPI140amp in the truck now. I also have a brand new Powermaster 200amp that was temporarily on the V6 that is made for the truck.(bolted in the V6 perfect, but the overall diameter of the housing was larger than the stock alt and intefered with the STB.) The housing on the 140amp alt is the same size as the stock alt's and will fit perfect. Here's the link to Summit - Powermaster 140amp offset clocking OE wire-165.95

LOL! Don't forget, they don't know too much about v6's, either. Just cash in on Summit's 'handshake' guarantee; buy it, if it don't fit, send it back.
