tach is jumping up and down
hi all--
today i started my car and noticed something kinda peculiar..as it was idling, the tachometer and battery meter were jumping back and forth...i had it tuned up around 3 months ago--replaced plugs, wires, etc. but i am assuming something electrical?? just wanted some leads before i paid for a diagnostic and was told something i might be able to figure out on my own or with you guys help..thanks..sinjin 89...

I know this one.
Have the alt AMP tested, not volt tested. Then if thats not it, have the icm, and coil tested.
I had to do all 3 of these in one week to fix my symptoms.

could be as simple as making sure that the wires that go into your coil are plugged in all the way. The clips that snap my wires onto the coil are broken and sometimes they rattle loose and that's exactly what happens. Also, make sure that the wiring harness that snaps to the alt is in all the way, mine is corroded and I need to clean it, so sometimes my voltage guage reads at about 11-12 volts instead of the normal 14 that it should. The reason it does this is because it need an ecite voltage in order to produce corect voltage for the demand. Check the wires, if that's not the problem, get the stuff tested.
