Figure I'll bring this up to the top for you....

I've never seen a V-belt 2.8 so I really can't say, but assuming you've got only V-belts, not the bizarre v-belt/serpentine belt combination they did for a year or two...I would THINK the SB chevy pulleys would work....

I have an 85 with one belt going from the crank up around the water pump to the alt. One belt going from the crank around the water pump to the power steering. And one belt going from the crank to the water pump to the ac then around the power steering pump. very weird set-up

Well, you might have better luck by asking a few of the V8 guys on the boards that have V-belts how theirs are routed. If their belt routing matches yours, then chances are it's all gonna be interchangeable.

Paintshooter, as far as I've known, nobody's made a set of pullies for our "bastard" 2-v-belt-1-serpentine-belt setup, of the 85-86 2.8's. There was a similar setup on v8's, BUT, the serpentine-style belt was the inner-most belt, against the engine. Ours is the outer-most belt.

Side note; you play paintball? My "new toy" is a Spyder Xtra paintball gun... gave it a few shots the night I bought it; just gotta get the rest of the gear (borrowed a friends).

Anyway, you can convert the motor over to an 87-up serpentine system, but here's a few problems:

1. Need the 87-up style alternator to fit into the tensioner bracket
2. Need to change the p/s pulley, need a special tool to remove it
3. Need to change the a/c pulley, I couldn't imagine how

The "easy" way out is to get the alternator and p/s pump from the junkyard car- but I don't know what you'd do about the a/c. There's a special belt routing to bypass it (for fbodies that didn't get the a/c from the factory), but then you don't have a/c...

Hey Tom....know anyone that wants to buy a paintball gun? I'm thinking about selling mine. Tippman Model 98 Custom. Muahaha. Semi-automatic, capable of something along the lines of 10-12 rounds per second, which is faster than my finger can move. 20 OZ CO2 tank, which is good for a hair over 1000 shots before needing a recharge. Problem is...I haven't used it in about a year. It's too hot down here, especially with the face mask and arm pads.....and the extra thick clothing I wear cause I'm a wimp. Accuracy is crap though considering it's such a big, heavy gun. Gotta amp up the muzzle velocity.....it hasn't been touched.

And, I don't know what year his car is, it doesn't say...but he didn't mention anything about a serpentine belt in his post...?

It's a serpentine-style belt. Flat on one side, 4 (or 5?) grooves on the other side. It doesn't rest against any tensioner. There's 3 grooves on the crank and w/p pullies, the innermost two are v-belts, the outermost one has the 4 grooves. The belt loops over these two pullies and goes up to it's "mate" on the alternator.

My friend's got that custom 98... nice gun. He's got a bitchin' valve on his drop forward that lets him release the air out of the gun before unscrewing the tank... my drop forward doesn't have that; the air just explodes all over the place! Mine has the double-finger trigger, though, so I can rub that in his face. If I know of someone that wants one, I'll let you know. Can a paintball even -be- accurate? It is huge and round.... not the best for straight flights! If you type in Spyder Xtra on ebay, you'll find my gun... could've gotten it cheaper there, but then I have to wait for it

Nice gun Tom... Is yours that bright blue, 'you can see my weapon glaring in the sun from through these trees so please ambush me' color?

I've got flat black baby. Ohhh yeaaah...

LOL, yes sir it is! That's another thing I like about my friend's... the aluminum on his isn't anodized or polished, it's dull. Doesn't matter; as soon as they see the glint of mine in the sun, it'll be too late. Too late for who, I'm not gonna say. Yours is all black?

Yep, ALL black. Not a single shiny part on it besides....the Model 98 Custom insignia on the side. That's about it..everything else is flat or gloss black.

I admit it..I suck at paintball. Too out of shape to keep running around and stuff...and so far, my accuracy seems to be off, although like you said, accuracy isn't very present in paint ball guns...
