rpm question

hey i got a quick question/comment. today i noticed my car was revving a little high. at idle, it was right at 1000rpm like normal, but at 50mph, in D it was at 2500 and in OD it was 2000. normally it's 2000/1500 respectively. i don't think it's a big deal...just wondering what could have caused this cause it just started happening this morning. thanks.

Torque convertor not locking up, or slipping tranny.

If stick shift, worn clutch.

I'm leaning toward not locking up.

Make sure the floormat isn't shoved way up under the gas pedal; that's not fun at all.

Another fun thing is when you have your foot off the clutch, and then when you need to put the clutch in, your shoelace gets caught on the back of the pedal.

what was your temp gauge showing? it may not have been warm enough for the convertor to lock up. i think its gotta be like atleast 130* or something (not 100% sure on that number).
