original gauge cluster has 85mph speedo, othe rone (4th gen?) has a 140 mph spedo, that and lack of front plate is the only difference i can see.

hint: never mind about the front plate, it's a 120 speedo from an 88 Firebird

One has a cable driven speedo "85"and the other is VSS "120"?

Only time I ever look at the speedo is when a cop is near- only need it to read 65mph max. otherwise would cares? People like you that try to do 130mph+ while looking at the speedo for bragging rights and end up dead in a ditch. Get into one of my cars and you don't need to look at any speed to know you are moving- heck, two of my cars don't even have speedos.

I think they've got a VSS converter. I don't remember where though. Besides you could always sell it and get the Speedo (cable) driven one.

Or, if you're really enterprising, run the wiring and convert to VSS.

people like me? wtf? just cause its funny some speedos only go up to 85 doesn't mean that i drive 150mph....even if my car could do that i wouldn't. and bragging rights? LMAO, the governor on my car is supposed to kick in at 115mph, what kind of bragging rights is 115?

both clusters are from v6 birds. the 85 mph is from my my car, the 120 is from firebirdjoe's parts car. I forgot all about the vss when I pulled it, all I saw was the 120 speedo, or at lest something that would read up to the speed limiter :hail:

Nope, that's from a V8 car. One way or the other. Either it was swapped in or it was f*ed from the factory.

The V6 clusters (and you can even read this in the Owners Manual) have an oil gauge that has a blank spot...I'll see if I can find a pic of mine to show you.

Ovr....I hope to *** you didn't take that photo while you were actually doing 130! I would be afraid to even lift one finger off that steering wheel at that speed...much less a whole hand for a camera...

Actually the 120 MPH guage came off of my 1988 2.8 Firebird parts car. I have a '91 V-6 a 120 MPH spedo.

don't think so over, looks like a v6 guage to me....the oil press goes to 80 instead of the v8's 60....I've got a v8 T/A guage here at the house w/ the 140mph speedo, which i could get that damn thing to work....also noticed that the lighting was different on the newer model...backlit i think.

I'm guessing a pair of jackstands on the rear end.. Only a moron takes pictures at 130 mph. Unless you're the passenger :lala:

That's priceless.... did you have the jackstands under the car, or were you actually running that speed?
