Anyone fuel gauge do this?...
As I was driving home, my fuel fauge started going up and down.It then setteled as I was on the highway.I also noticed it would go up as I accelerated and went down as I slowed.I don't mean the level of the fuel in the tank was causing this as I sped up or slowed down to stop.Just as I gave it gas or let up off the pedal. The fuel filter has been replaced. It seems to idle fine.It had water in the tank at the time of the filter change and I put in alcohol to relieve that problem.I'm thinking the pump might be going out.The car seems like it does'nt have the get up and go like it used to.The engine has around 60k on it.But the fuel pump is still original.ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

althogh i have only owned a thirdgen for two majical weeks (applause), i would think it is probably the wires to your fuel guage. ir mechanical guage workings inside tank. the fuel pump shuld not cause the fuel guage to do that.
but thats just my two cents, maybe someone with an actual knowledge of fuel seystems will back me up here?

Mine will read empty under hard corners with Half a tank of gas- Under 3/8 a tank I will cavitate the fuel tank and the motor will bobble in the turns under hard g's- Normal street deriving it won't bobble around a normal speed corner unless I am under an 1/8 tank. Most older car fuel gauges move like you discribe, thats normal- its caused by poor or no baffling in the fuel cell.
