Possibly buying another Firebird, is this a good deal??
I am looking to take a loan from my bank to get a new car (I'll still hang on to my old Firebird)
The car is a 1991 Pontiac Firebird 3.1 V-6, 20,000 original miles, garage kept, lady driven, recent tune up, new tires, red paint with gray interior, looks like it's brand new... for $5,000 OBO.
Does that sound like a good deal?
If I can get accepted for a loan and buy this car I will have two 1991 Firebirds.

sounds good but run a carfax and make sure it really has 20k miles or else its not gonna be worth nearly as much. what options does the car have? id say 5k sounds a little much, see if u can talk them down to 3.5-4k. if u do buy it, keep the miles low and garage it if u can if its in really as nice condition as you say. it'll probably be worth something one day with low miles like that and in good condition.

lets just say, if you still want a Firebird model, when I went to the swapmeet/car show @ Springfeild, there were a couple of T/A s/Formulas for under $4k. and they looked good.

A 3.1 barely driven? Nice find... for $5k?
All I could ask... is why? I'd not spend more than about $3500 for a BRAND NEW 3.1 '91 Firebird. $5k and you're looking at nice V8s, or 4th gens!

I'd say if you do buy it think of it as an investment, put it in one of those bubble things and leave it in a storage garage so your next of kin can sell it to pay for your stay in a retirement home.
other than that....probably not worth it

The car is optioned with T-Tops, power windows, power locks, power trunk, cruise control, '91 ground effects, etc...
Being that I am rather young (under 25), my insurance is still a bit more than what I would like to pay, but it's the cheapest in the area. While I would prefer having a V-8, having one almost doubles my insurance price. I pay $2,300 a year for the lowest liability coverage on my 3.1 with 170k miles... and I've only had one ticket for improper backing into a parked car. If I do get this Firebird, it will be a daily driver, not a garage kept vehicle. There is nothing special about a V-6 Firebird from 1991.
I was given a copy of the carfax report from the owner, it is actual 20k original miles and has been serviced by the dealer (the Pontiac Dealer that I work for) since it was brand new.
Maybe my black car that I have now would be a good donar car for a 350 in the near future (2004 - 2005). I'd just have to get new floor boards to replace the old rusted ones. If this car goes through one more harsh winter, I'll be able to kick my foot through it!!

I meant that a like new 91 v6 firebird would be worth something say in 2050. I wonder how much one of these will be worth then...

Thats what the cop wrote down on my ticket, "Improper backing". I was confused too. It was dark and raining, I didn't look to see what was behind me and backed into a brand new Monte Carlo.

Pulled into a parking lot once... the guy yells at me and says you came in the wrong entrance, you need to back up and come in on this other side. So I was pissed, and backed up! Yep, I backed up right into the car that followed me in. Almost pushed HIM into the car that followed HIM in! Over $4000 in damage to that POS brand new Mercury (one of the luxury 4-door merc's), all I had was a dented tailpipe and a pen-diameter-sized hole in my bumper.
