Magnum 1.5 rocker question

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone here has installed the Comp Cams 1.5 rollers
in their v6's (P/N 1413) and experienced valve cover clearance problems?

What I'm noticing when peering thru the filler hole is that the back
of the rocker is touching the top rear part of the valve cover!

I haven't tried doubling up on the gaskets as I don't think this will
solve the problem. Any ideas on this?

Thanks.

Have you already installed the rollers? OR are you saying the stock ones hit the covers?

mine are installed and the engine is sittin in my garage. When I look into the hole it does appear as though it is touching. Stick your finger in there once though. You can feel how it is actually not touching. Thats on mine though. If you are really concerned or try doubling the gasket look for a part number on the individual rockers for a part number, maybe they were 1.6s in a 1.52 box.

Damien00677,

Not only are they touching, but I can't even place the valve covers down on the heads (even with the gasket in place!).

Are your's Comp Cams Rollers? If they are you would notice an
imprinted stamp on the top rear of the rocker noting "1.52",
just behind the nut. I'm sure mine are 1.52 unless Comp labled them wrong!?

Something's fishy....

yep, according to part numbers and the stamp we have the same ones
I can't see anyway to have installed them so they won't fit unles you put them on {washer, rocker, nut} instead of {rocker, washer, nut}
I can't see why you'd have other than stock valve covers or how it would've worked with the stock rockers.

It seems to me that your 1.52 roller tip rockers aren't 1.52 at all, maybe someone who has put 1.6s in could help.
I'm thinking they are labeled wrong.
Maybe put them up next to your old ones, you should notice much of a difference at all.

Upon closer inspection it does appear that I may require 2 gaskets and it may not just be the rockers but the ARP studs
that are up to high. I think that's the problem. The back stud
is a bit higher than the front for some reason and is hitting the corner of the valve cover. 2 gaskets seem to solve this problem.

Thanks for you help.

It looks as though you're putting together a motor also. I'm piecing together a 3.4 so maybe you can help with a another little problem. You know the idler pulley (assumng you have one) that mounts on a bracket which has 3 bolt connections? 2 of those get connected onto the alternator bracket ( I believe according to a diagram I have) but the 3rd connection which happens to be a long rod going towards the rear is no where near to being connected to anything. It doesn't line up with any holes or other brackets. Have an idea about this?

There wasn't one on the engine when i got it.
Assuming you're doing Ked's 3.4 swap boogie maybe that third bolt goes into the block or head on a 2.8 but the 3.4 doesn't have the hole in it.

Pretty much just a guess though.
