$20 Blue open element filter, rain, and forgetting to sheild said open element filter from water splashed from the passenger tire = Code 25, MAT (Manifold Air Tempature) Sensor , black smoke out the tail pipe before reattempting **** e-check, and water in the pvc elbow where the MAT sensor is.

Yikes, water in the engine is ok but sensors might not like it. Sounds like a simple fix though. I have head and read many time about how you pour a big glass of water down the carb with it wide open to clean off the valves and piston of carbon junk.
I had open elements on my motorcycle but they were only $3 each so I could carry a dry spare set. If the bike got wet while sitting, a quick change would get me home. I have a K&N filter now but only cause it was given to me.
Sometime you can't hlp but get em wet, otherwise you gotta block them off and you want that open air flow. My ram air has paid off well and rain snow or shine it has no problems.
