Hints/Help with '89 Cooling System

Well I am in the process of replacing all the heater hoses, radiater hoses, and Tstat, and have a couple quickies:

What is that valve (?) called where the heater hoses seem to converge on - 2 hoses on one side heading to the heater lines, and 1 on the other heading to the water pump, along with a vacuum line on top. Am I correct in referring to this as the heater control valve? Or is that another part entirely? Because being the klutz I am, I snapped off one of the necks on it trying to get a hose off, and am looking for a new one. The only part Autozone seems to have which comes close is this heater control valve, but they have to order it. I want to make sure I am ordering the correct item. In the interim I epoxied it with Quick Steel since I need to finish this over the weekend and it looks like it will take a couple days to recieve the part. Don't worry, won't be driving the car though.

2nd Q is any hints to changing the Tstat and upper hose? The 2 housing bolts look pretty well buried under the Throttle Body. Would it be easiest to take off the TB to get at them? Figure I'll clean out the TB while I'm at it, looks like there's just 2 bolts that hold it on.

Thanks in advance!
