Hey guys
In case you didn't know, i just bought this bird and the exhaust pipes are pretty rusty with some holes in them. Larry sugested getting a Dynomax cat-bak. What will this do for my bird? Or do you just recommend something else?

think there's a messge at the top of the board in a sticky that explains exhaust options. Tihs one comes up time and time again, if you type in v6 board, and then type dynomax or flowmaster in you'll recieve about a million different ideas, so best bet is to simply look at all the options....i've got flowmaster and loev it, some have dynomax and love it, i like my somewhat obnoxiously loud exhaust note, especially at 1500-2900 rpm, above that and you cna distinctly tell it's a v6, dynomax is considered a good performance system that's a little quieter than the flowmaster competition. So it's all up to your personal preference, unless ur incredibly picky, i highly doubt that youll dislike anything that you have done to it.

 

Sure you want a dynomax... At the least, usually a factory cat-back (stock muffler and new stock pipes) will cost the same -- or more -- then the Dynomax, so you might as well go for performance. (Coincidentally, same thing with catalytic convertors... aftermarket high-flow are usually cheaper then generic stock replacements). http://www.summitracing.com and type in part # WLK-17493 .

 

im more interested in the flowmaster now, i want a loud engine haha

 

I don't know the prices on a flowmaster kits but the dynomax is dirt cheap for the quality. It was like $160 right to my door.

 

Personally, I work at an auto parts store and it's $160 retail for a standard Flowmaster muffler. I have one on mine and it perrs pretty awesome. You'll have to give it a several months to break in to that sweet tone. I don't know much about dynomax mufflers, but they collect alot of dust while sitting on the shelves

 

ya gotta be jokin on the price of the flowmaster muffler, i went ot matt johnson's performance back in st.louis, picked up a 80 series 3" in 3" out muffler for a grand total of 80 dollars, brand new and in box. The price was the same for the rest of the flows that he was selling

 

Nope, I work for Van Senus Auto parts in indiana and that's about the lowest i've seen it by me. Yet, my overall muffler job total was the cheapest around $325: pipes, muffler, tips. My discount chops the price down lower than a buck sixty. But then again there's is a huge market by me for aftermarket "performance" parts. So they can charge whatever they want. It's a pretty raw deal. But you see all these yuppie hustlers who buy it up like the parts are going out of style.
