ONE thing you need for an 02 sensor...

...A BIG PRY BAR!!...Geez.I coulda killed the last guy who put that thing on the last time.He did'nt use any anti-seize compund and thus compounded the probelm. It's bad enough working under the car when there is'nt alot of room, but when you can only turn the ratchet a 1/4 turn at a time makes it more painstaking.I had to take off the pigtail and put a socket on it to get it out. Also, it solved my electrical problem I was having.I have a Sony radio and no amps and everytime I turned the radio on ( and not cranking it up) the volt meter would drop from 14.5 to below 13 or 12 volts.Evidently, I was getting a grounding problem because the pigtail on the 02 sensor was fraid(spelling).I could see the bare wire through the insulation. After all said and done, I took it to town to try it out.No performance change but I'm waiting to see if my MPG improves.Insofar as the radio...cranked it up and the volt gauge stayed WELL above 13.5 volts.HeHeHe.I hope this hepls someone.

would it have been possible to get ur deep dished socket around the o2 sensor, then tackle it with a swivle (u joint) and an extension to give urself more room? i know that the extensions on u joints often make the socket more unstable, and you have to be careful not ot brake ur ratchet or ur socket in the process, but it might have helped out...but a huge pry-bar is definately a must, those things are normally in there like stone.

Did you get the exhaust hot first before you tried to remove it? They will not come out cold- heat makes the job EASY.

When I removed mine I stuck a 2 foot pipe onto the wrench for extra leverage. It was still a bitch to get off though.

OH YEAH!!...I got the car pretty warm.It was going to make things(or at least I thought) easier.I tried channel locks first.NOPE.Then I tried a deep socket.ALMOST.Then I grabbed me a 3 foot pry bar.DINGDINGDING.Tell them what he won Johnny.Still wasm a pain not being able to move the ratchet that much. But, in the end it was worth it.Now my next challenge is to put on a direct-fit cat.I was thinking about jacking that side of the car up and setting it on blocks to give more room to work.ANY THOUGHTS???

3/4" wrench and some cussing and grunting did it for me. I now have one of them little sockets made for this, USUALLY helps.

having the car on 4 jackstands makes putting on the t-pipe & cat VERY easy, 2 ton in back ( small ones) 6 ton in front (big ones)

Most parts stores sell an O2 socket. It has a slot for the pig tial and it helps with busting the sucker free. Cost me $2.50. Chump change made the job a lot smother!
