knocking/popping from underneath my car

Alright guys, i'm stumped again and it doesn't take much lol. Ok, after a long weekend of driving back and forth from Summit Racing for the camaro car show(had to represent the 6 lol) I'm getting this knocking/popping sound from underneath my car. Everytime I accelerate or turn i can feel something under my car popping out or knocking. it's sort of hard to explain and I'm not sure where it's coming from. i feel it under my pedal all the way back to my rear wheels. I thought my tranny mount was loose and it's not, a bad case of wheel hop and that's not it, no broken endlinks and no loose suspension parts. I was thinking it was something with my driveshaft starting to go. It doesn't do it all the time though. Just occasionally when I'm in drive and accelerate or when i turn a corner. I don't know how to explain it any better than a knock/pop from under my car coming from either the center or rear of my car. Any one else have a similar problem?

P-S -Finally figured out the overheating problem, the dealership put WAY to much oil in my engine. I know you won't believe me when i say this but when my boyfriend changed my oil, i had enough oil in my engine to fill his 10qt pan. I noticed my oil was above the full mark but everytime i checked it the engine was still warm, so my dumb@$$ never put 2 and 2 together and thought maybe i had to much oil in my car. I'm lucky my engine didn't blow up. The good news is we emptied it, put around 5 qts in and it runs like a dream again. I can hear the my pistons clapping lol. it doesn't overheat anymore either. So i'm happy again except for the whole knocking problem now.

thanks for your help guys.

Your tranny mount can be tight, but the rubber in it may be bad.

Mine was combo of bad right motor mount and tranny rebuilder not installing my tranny bracketry correct.

Thus causing the cat converter to hit underside of passenger floor board.

Could be your u-joints, but I think its one of the above.

My mom put 10 quarts to much in a car once and it bend a rod. Car ran forever knocking like hell. Would only do 35 and no matter how I tried. It would not blow. one of them 289 cutlass'es.

Sound like a motor or tranny mount. I have worked on a car and todl the guy he mount was fine but it only aced up at odd times and was the mount.

Could be universal joints or something major losein the steering system. Had a ford and dodge that did that. poped real bag when ya turned hard but oculd never find anything lose. The ford never showed the problem butthe dodge finally let lose. the ball joint was not worn but beat its way through the a-arm.

I'm gonna rule out my my tranny mount, that bad boy is brand new. It's got less than 2K on it. I just had it installed in may. If it's a motor mount i'm gonna wait. I'm still deciding if i'm gonna do an engine sway this winter. I'm going out to South Carolina this december and the b/f and I are gonna stop at thirdgenresource in North Carolina on our way home. Might pick up a 350. Can't beat the price they want for the setup especially if everything runs well.

I know my steering components aren't in the best of shape just by looking at them, but it wouldn't explain why it knocks when i accelerate as well.

It's not a big deal cuz i'm not driving the RS everyday however i'll probably just give in and have a mechanic look at it too, then decide what to do.

Hm, come to think of it, when I turn the car really sharp in a parking lot to park, sometimes I also get a pop noise, but it's really rare. Guess it's time to check the motor mounts again. Forgot all about that. Heh.

Its not the tranny mount, its the front torque arm bushing- its completely worn and thrusting upward and downward everytime you hit the gas or brake.

I like AGood's idea. Maybe check the front stabilizer link bolts and bushings too.

Heheh, (is a slacker), I knew my torque arm bushing for my car was worn two years ago when I looked at it. Now's it so bad, you can be going 30 and the car will feel like it's pulling and pushing in the rear occasionally. Probably time for me to get off me **** and replace that. I'd assume the feel of the drive would be better and would help with accellerating due to lack of excess pull in the rear.
