Don't put it into performance parts on that engine....it's not worth it. If I were you, I'd get things transferrable to another car or that are aside from performance parts. Like a b*tchin stereo.
Oh and FYI....if you're going to do a motor swap, I wouldn't settle for a TPI 305. Do a 350 swap. For a small amount of money more, you'll have boatloads more power.

Appearance mods
You can do quite abit with 700.00.
THats what I would spend my money on, its sad but true our lil 2.8's and 3.1's arent worth the modding

Doward here...
Yeah, stereo or looks, unless you seriously want to keep your car, and want it faster.
Then, I'd go a 75hp shot of nitrous, or think about a custom turbo setup.
Gumby - call it NOS again, and I'll smack you!

Go to LasVegas with the money- Let it ride. If you hit big, would you buy a new car? or would you keep you V6 Camaro and build it (with the V6 in it still)? Theres you answer.l
This is a tough call. If I had my 2.8 V6 and had 700 bucks to spend on it I would do:
3.73 rear gears and posi this will eat 600 of it with a professional install
Or I might look into Tubular lower control arms, Panhard rod, and sub frame connectors from BMR . Check out the Web site. All this would set you back around 350 and the car would handle killer and would be ready for a v8 swap. It would also leave you money for a dynomax cat back and still have roughly 200 cash left to save for other items.
Another nice mod for any car is a 35MM front sway bar. Like I said if I had my 2.8 still and I was going to mod it I would:
1. First Mod after rune up, Dynomax Cat back
2. 35MM Front Sway Bar
3. Wonder Bar form Junk Yard
4. Sub Frame Connectors to stiffen the chassis
5. 4.10 rear Gears since I would never drive over 50 miles one way with it.
6. Ported Heads and Crane 2030 Cam
7. Bore it 40 over
8. MSD Coil and Accel Wires
9. Fastchip from fastchip.com
10. Nitrous 75HP Shot

Take the $700 and spend it on WOMEN!
THEN after ya recover (NEVER RECOVER)
Sell the V6, go find a V8 3rd Gen & THEN do it again.
Don't spend the effort for a V6 to V8 swap (honest, see my sig, 2-3.4 swaps & loving it!), you'll never have time/funds left over for the best of the several women! you have enjoyed!
Shame ya didn't turn 18 in the 70's. $700 spare change went alot further (& more women!) and ya could sell the 3rd Gen ride as a future collectable, cause Camaro/Firebirds went outta production in the next century!
1978 was one of the high selling vehicles produced points of the entire 30 year F Body line.

You know tools are the best thing you can ever buy.
$3-400 on a welder and tank
$100 2 ton pipe bender
$75-100 14in cut of shaw, 4 1/2 grinder bunch of disc and grinding wheels.
$50-60 for a mini drill press and a bunch of bits, gotta have a step drill bit.
and maybe if you shop right spend the rest on a $100 arch welder and turn it into a plasma cuter later.
Then you can make or do anything you can think of.
Girls are a waste of money if you ask me. The right ones don't need it. The wrong ones will bleed you dry. The only time I ever got my moneys worth of out a woman is dollar tiping at the strip club.

And I meant 12 ton pipe bender, not 2.
I also have a bar and rod bender with scroll attachment. isnt much I can't make.
I also meant make a tig welder not a plasma cutter out of the arch welder.

Since we are on the topic of tools
Here's my "tool room" that is almost complete. I built this addition just off behind my garage and moved the water heater back there, then plumbed my garage walls (internally) with air lines to the sides that the 60 gal compressor feeds. I have always wanted my own shop at home for my hobbies.
My two car garage will have nothing in it except TWO CARS! No boxes, of shelves or bikes or NOTHING.

If you do buy any audio use your brain and do not waste the money. A nice head unit not the best, a nice amp and 4 nice speakers that are matched. Hold off on subs till after the holidays. Still I would consider what I mentioned above.
I was bored when I had my 2.8,so took the upper and lower plenum off and ground the bitch down for hours. It was opened up big time. Then I powder coated it and it looked nice. Translucent Red was the color. Cost me 5 bucks for a bit for the dremel to do it and a few hours of my time for 1-2 HP possibly. But it all counts...
Do not forget the double roller timming chain form coyles if you have over 80K on the clock.

This thing has more recovery power than I could ever throw at it. 175 max psi- so I can fill it and still work on things late at night without it cycling more than about once every two hours. My smaller 5 hp/25 gal unit cycles every 30 mins.

Its kinda of hopty but cheap and it works well. Id like to add a 100 gallon tank to the system.
