Timing Chain Change help?
How hard would it be to change my Timing Chain with the engine still in the car? I am having some timing problems and I figures I have never changed it, and I got the engine from the junk yard and only rebuilt part of the top end. So it wouldn't hurt... What all does this job intail... I didn't even switch the timing chain covers over when I swapped in the 3.4.. But now I will...

If your water pump is old you might want to change that too since they aren't much. I also changed my balancer because I read about what can happen when they get old. The gear puller for the crankshaft sprocket can be a problem, cuz i couldn't locate one that would fit once i got to it. Had to leave the old one on. Power steering pump had to come off, and AC, but just left lines hooked up. rotate to tdc1 so all is lined up upon reassembly. If you get a manual it's all there.
Only problem with doing it while engine is in car, a 5 D-cell maglight will not fit in there no matter how much you cuss at it. Use a smaller one.
