The cubic inches are 173ci. The motor is the LB8. The stock horsepower is 135. The best mod for the money would be a V8!.....but if you don't have that kind of money, i would get exhaust first. Headers help a lot if you can find them for the 2.8 and yes, this car can have a chip put in. You can put a chip from www.hypertech.com or one from www.jetchip.com . They are pretty expensive though. First thing i would do is a full tune up. Check the sticky at the top for TomP's tuneup. That helps a lot.

Tips for YOUR car

First off, congratulations you're a proud owner of a thirdgen! Anyhow, Run new exhaust ALL THE WAY. A high flow Cat (don't gut it...trust me), dual outlet muffler (flowmaster doesn't sound too good but try dynomax). Have a muffler shop do it and tell them to run 2.5 inch all the way MINIMAL BENDS, they'll know what you mean. Ditch as much weight as you can (You're lucky, your car only weighs about 3000 lbs.). Of course the full tune-up. You won't have much luck finding headers, don't bother looking (Although some people are working on that). You can, however, have some custom made for you're car (Ask around at muffler shops, performance tuners, people at the track) If you can weld, give it a go....Get some lower gears (3.73). Then there's porting the intake, oversized throttle body, FULL head jobs....Heck, you could even try super/turbo charging your car (do it yourself, they don't make a kit). If you're gonna drag, you could always get a 50-75 shot. Anyhow, have fun and ignore all those people that are gonna tell you to drop in a V8. If you want the power of a V8 you should go buy a car with a V8 already in it....Have fun!
