?

Ohhh... guys, I never said it was our 3.1 that died

A bit over 100 miles into the 500mile breakin period, and all is smooth so far -

Haven't gone past 3k rpm yet, but initial thoughts are -

MTC-5 rocks. I'm loving the powerband, and it's hitting STRONG right around the time I lift off the throttle (around 3k)

Had a bad MAF... got a new one, so far so smooth. Now to get into the chip tuning.

I know I shouldn't have yet.... but I had to.

Dead stop, FRIED 1st gear. Seriously, went almost no where.

Slammed 2nd, more tire screeching, as the rpms shoot back to 5300rpm+, then catches, runs from 4k to 5700rpm, went to 3rd, and on that long throw from 2nd to 3rd, still manage to get a very strong peel in 3rd gear.

On 255/50/16s, no less.

Another 360 miles before i hit 500miles, then I'll hit Orlando Speed World.

Damn you!! That's a very mean trick to pull... But very funny...

And about you beating the **** out of it...that's not NECESSARILY a bad thing. Depends on the break-in method. Some guys tell you to go easy on it for an eternity. Others say you'll make more power by beating the sh*t out of it for the first couple hundred. I know guys that break-in motors at the drag strip, running 300-500 hp nitrous shots on a STOCK bottom end. Truly a testament to the strength of a solid 302...

I think after they get dyno numbers, we all go down there & give 'em a beat down, many a time

Yeah, more on the way. Definetly feels stronger, and pulls past 5K rpm much better. As we work the exhaust angle over, it should get better

Dont worry about the 5k peal. Good chance your (overhauled) setup was seated in the 100 miles of easy driving.

Just to distance myself from the argument above, I am one of those people who take an eternity+ to break in any engine.

But anywho........................ wanna see some turbo numbers :lala:

yes. the way the engine is running now, I've got a bad feeling the ET is going to suck, and the MPH is going ot be very very high.

(that means LOTS of traction issues!)

... ask and ye shall.. F it.. i hate biblical quotes...

After break-in, we're taking it up to the track.. we want a good baseline so that we can really see what the hard work has done for us...

Personally, ive watched people be interested.. but i wanna know who is reallllllly interested... cuz financial backing would help progress a lot...

It will get done.. and on a fresh engine i have no doubts that the engine will hold it..but hold it well.

with the 2.8, it held it well, and responded even better... and that was with over 100K miles. so newly rebuilt, forged internals, it could def. be an untapped resource. we have a few more angles to go over before we can bring back project boosted stock and born to rock (title is a W.I.P as well) back.

Yeah, like I want a fresh set of 22pphs in her, with more tuning, the 16g fully rebuilt, and spin balanced, port the turbine side, and polish both the compressor and turbine sides... figure might as well have the production O2 housing, and downpipe on, so everyone can see what the turbo exhaust side will look like, done...

And then there's the custom FMIC, and associated piping that's going into place...

Yeah, much work to be done still. We've got a good foundation - now to work out the odds and ends, and get her going.

I've got a 13.5 1320 to beat.

Let ME know when you're going to good old Orlando Spinworld as well, so I can bring the Stang out and scope out my competition. I'd really like to see her run.

Oh and D, if you want some killer street tires that will hook just about anything to the road, and last decently, get a set of Cooper Cobra ZHP-01's. With those, I pulled a 2.34 60' with the new motor, and a 2.188 on the old motor. When I switched rear tires to some Sigma Supreme HP's when those Cobras were bald, my 60' climbed from 2.34 to 2.78. BIG difference. The cobras, bald, grip better than the Sigmas with a load of tread left.

I'd suggest a set of Nitto 555 drags for you man

I'm cutting 2.3xx 60's with a one wheel wonder on the 255/50/16 Eagle ZR50s now... plenty of tread left still, i love 'em!

My next set of tires are going to be Kuhmo Ecsta 711s, just till i get the $$ for a set of SZ50's....

310 more miles on the break in....

I think Dizzle checked on some audio recorders (web mics i guess) so that we can take audio of the car, with the cam, and soon with our special exhaust. ... track run def. coming soon... and we're gonna try for a dyno if do-able.. so that we know exactly whut the 3.1 is doing. THEN.... and THEN! we can get to work on the real power.. And you better "Be-lee dat" we're gonna have some bragging rights..

I know everyone is waiting for it.. and trust me.. we are sooo ready for a big payoff... but as we're going along, we're finding things that "worked' but will work better for the final product.. and we dont want to rush thru it and have it blow up in our faces.. Y'all rock for a support group.. glad to see the help from everyone.. :hail:

... I dont want to say too much and jinx us.. so forgive the allusions... Sooooooooon.....

Yeah, I was wanting a mic, to do some audio recording of the exhaust, and all. I'll have to get AM91 down there with the camcorder, to see what she does

I have never seen inside a V6... way different from a V8! I must have stared at the pic with the pushrods forever... trying to figure out what was wrong with it lol
