Moog and Trw parts are nearly identical and a lot of the times carry the same part numbers. I've held both parts in my hand and If there is a difference its not visible. Lots of times parent companies will mass produce parts in the same warehouses to save costs while still keeping the different companies to please different clientel choices.

i would buy my tie rod from auto zone! they sell trw steering parts witch are made by feaderal mongal, witch just so happen to be the same people that make moog. the trw parts are a much cheaper, i whent ther there web site i think its much better qualitly(trw). i would'nt go to advanced auto they sell perfect circle product..
Auto Zone sells perfect circle not TRW.
Napa sells TRW.

Weird... b/c Federal Mogul lists both the TRW parts -and- the Moog parts in their online catalog. I always thought they were both made by FM.

As an FYI, when I rebuilt my 1974 Corvete front linkage.
I went with TRW & MOOG stuff. In my instance, only MOOG makes coil springs for Corvettes, TRW supplied rest of items.
In my order request were two sets of the end links.
One end link had a totally different apperence than the other, with the same number.
I was rather pissed, and returned it. Eventually I got a identical matching tie rod.
I seriously think one manufacturer makes the stuff & tosses it into boxes.
I feel the "machinery" to create these tie rod end castings & center links & other parts, is kinda expenisve to have manufacturer price competition.
I have TRW suspension & engine overhaul books from the mid 90's. I'll bet I can phone a place & these old TRW listed numbers still the same.
Some days parts is parts......
I must say I've NEVER ever been offered an American Car suspension part from a foreign manufacturer.

well took the car to two different shops today, and they both said nothing is visably bent (thanks, if i would have known that was an "inspection".... dang) they both said i will need to have them "alighn" it to find out what is bent. so, i am going to order new tie rods (moog) and tie rod linkage (stock) and put that on. and then have it alighned. so they can tell me whats busted. in the meantime, my tire is getting real bad, but i won't have time to get a new one put on (by new i mean, cheapest used tire i can find) ill friday, knock on wood, hope it does not blow before then.

also will buy gm or moog centerlink and idler am, not decided yet.

EDIT:
guy at scottys auto body in hillsboro near flipped a lid when he saw my six speed indicator on my 4th gen console, poor fool thought he was in 6th instead of reverse. HA, i wish.

ok, new question, after i fix all this crap, i am going to lower the car by one inch, what are the best brand/on a budget that i could buy. since we are all on a budget, what do you have? i dont want my car to be to low, it used to be way too low. (see sig, it still shows the car BEFORE) but then i replaced it with stock springs, and now it's way too high, i jut want an inch of lowering.

ok, so i just ordered the parts off of summitracing.com, ordered two tie rods innere and outer, two adjuster sleeves, on idler arm and one center link, order total was318.37 my gmparts direct order, WITHOUT idler arm and center link, for stock parts was goig to be a whopping 241.75 . so i got an idler arm and centerlink for only 77$ more. there total cost was 127. so i saved abot 50$ buying moog performance parts from summit, instead of buying STOCK parts AT COST plus shipping. cool huh?
thank you tomp and others for all your valuble input, once i get those suckers on there i can have my car alighned and they will be able to tell me what the problem is (unles by putting this stuff on i fixed the problem!) thanks again guys.

I should of followed this thread better but I was gonna say did you try AutoZone??? They get Moog stuff cheap cheap cheap.

And I agree with dude a few posts up. I think you tweaked your front sway bar.

The pic with the bar and the mark in the fender-well show it. It was the sway bar that left that mark and it was crammed in and up as your tire hit then compressed against the curb.

LOL! Hey Summit has a great return policy, just put it all back in the box, call them, and tell them you changed your mind. They'll give you a return auth # and you can send the package back by regular mail. Gumby, where's that part # from?

Thats a ebay part number / auction number. I didn't use the full link to comply with the board rules.

I'm gonna see how cheap I can get that whole set from AutoZone. My cousin is a manager and only has to charge 10% above wholesale to use the stores number to get stuff cheap.

Been meaning to look up the moog parts numbers for our cars to have him check. He also said something once about how they get cat converters for $3 each wholesale.

I almost swallowed that coffee until I got to the "useful animals" part! Ugh what a mess.

Xopher, you mean the item number Gumby gave? He said it was - key word is "Was" - an eBay auction. That would've been a good auction too, that was OLD Moog stuff... before they were owned by Federal Mogul. Those are the OLD style boxes in that auction picture.

Yea dude sorry, see I try and follow the rules. And the rules now state that you can not list auction links just the auction number. You would of needed to big on that auction to get that price and when I found it , it was at only $70. I have no idea what it closed at.
