Need Strut Tower Brace for 84 V6 Camaro

Hey, I got some advice from Gumby earlier on a Strut tower brace, but wanted to find out what some other people thought too. I had a particular design type in mind to use, but if I can't locate one then I'll have to settle for the Jamex that Gumby recommended.

The type that I want is similar to the Edelbrock 5226 or 5227. It's triangular in shape, and connects the strut towers to the firewall as well as spanning across the engine bay.

The other thing is that I am not sure that a Jamex will clear my air cleaner assy as well as it does the MPFI apparatus on cars like Gumby's.

Any advice an experience on both types of braces would be greatly appreciated. I think it sucks that manufacturers make so many parts for V8 cars and SQUAT for V6 models.

I have a BMR STB in my Camaro. I added shims on both sides to clear the TB and A/C.

How much does that style brace help for cornering ability? I haven't seen that particular style yet, where could I price one?

Hey man thanks for the help, but looking closer, I'm not sure that brace will work with a carbureted V6....it's made to fit over a TPI unit very nicely....but I think it'll hit the air cleaner nozzle. I think I may have to build one.....

WWasem, that fit with no problems over your v6? I've heard our engines were too tall or something crazy like that?

Yeah, the v6's are a 60-degree engine. V8's are 90, I believe; and because the angle between the cylinder heads is more spread out, the V8 sits lower in the engine bay.

The 6 is nice for fuel economy and that's about it. It's not great for performance, gets no respect, and you can't accessorize them NEARLY as much as you can the V8's.

As I said
I added shims on both sides to clear the TB and A/C.
Here is a picture of one of the shims. They aren't very big, and the hood still clears fine.

With the combination of the wonderbar I believe it helped the corning quite a bit by boxing up the front end.

Here's a picture of the wonderbar. (Not to be confused with wonderbra )
