3.1 problems still!
Ok i still have a bad idle and hesitation, i already replaced the o2 sensor, and for about 2 days its ran perfect, now its doing it again, but worse. whats wrong? also just sitting in the driveway the speedo was jumping around and the oil pressure gauge was as far past 80 as it would go and was fluttering. Help me fix this thing i need it driveable, and the way it is now, isnt driveable.

from what I have dealt with, a jumpy speedo standing still was a very bad electrical prob. the body was getting +volt hits from bare wire on main power distribution system.

well the speedo doesnt seem odd to me since it usually doenst even work. Only if i bang on the dash enough does it start to work. But that wouldnt have anything at all to do with the idle would it?

old post for reference.
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=217636
So youve cleaned the EGR
Replaced IAC (did you clean the hole out?)
adjusted tv cable
bouncing idle for me was coil and ICM, replaced at same time. Fixed it.
Could also be the pickup coil.
Speedo shouldnt jump around at all in driveway, that is a wiring issue, or bad speed sensor which could lie to the ecm, and fubar settings. Might want to check that.
Check the volts/amp output, ked85 seems to have alot of problems with alts spiking and causing problems.
Oil at idle is 80, and flickers. Sounds like commen GM OPSU problem.

Show me where the ICM is, what kinda of coil should i get? Ive done the idle learn today 2 time and that didnt fix it. It idles fine cold still then gets warmer (approx 160 degrees) it starts to get a bad idle, then after 1 minute or so it corrects and idles higher and perfect. Im still getting code 45.

Ahh yes, the crappy idle when warm, I know that one two well.
ICM and coil fixed it for me.
Coil, want "performance:, get MSD, just want it running any OTC.
ICM, stick with acdelco, MAKE SURE ITS DELCO!!! No wells, or elcheapo stuff, DELCO !!!!
Ticking is loose rocker, mine had 200k on it, and one on the right side was majorly loose. Dont stress it just yet, fix the idle problem.

pic of the ICM? The coil, how do i get the old one out of where it is, and the new one in. And, i have pics of this if u need them but ill try to clarify with words. The red wire going to a plug on the coil, the jacket on it is striped off in the middle, could that effect it? its not hitting anything. And on the driver side of the firewall, usually theres 3 relays right there. Mine only has 2 and a extra plug laying there. What goes in the one furthest to the driver side?

ok, first, YES, fix the red wire, that has the most power out of all wires besides the ones to and from the battery.
Parts listed, NONE is what you need! You dont need a whole distrib, you need an ignition control module, more then likely will have to go to the dealer for an ACDELCO one, cost is 35-60'ish (guessing).
Coil, if local store carrys accell, the the accell coil 14011, if they carry msd, even better. you just need the coil, them y oulisted are all whole ignition systems, or whole distributors, not needed.
To remove coil, take egr loose (again) then two 13mm bolts on the bottom of the coil bracket, take to work bench, drill the 4 rivits out. Lay new coil in, with new little wire retainers, bolt that all together TIGHT!
ICM, pull distrib cap off, see a black plastic thing? thats it, carefully remove the wire clips, they are fragile. Then take a 5.5 or 7/32 socket, remove two screws. Clean base on distrib off, smear new heat sink grease on new icm, lay in place, bolt down, clip wires on, put cap back on.
Anyone add/correct me if wrong.

humm that what they had listed for ICM oh well. Anyway new discovery today, once the check engine light comes on it start idles and driving perfect again. What is this? I now think it has to do with the o2 sensor again but its new. Maybe theres a problem with it sending the signal? Anyway to by pass the o2?

the ignition control module was only 40ish for me about 2 years ago.
was a pain getting in, but oh well, I was not going to pull the distrib to do it.
the coil you are looking for is from MSD and is 50-60 at most places, or 30-40 from summitracing.com

codes codes codes! Got code 22. Low voltage at throttle positon sensor OR
Fuel cutoff relay circuit open or shorted to ground
Code 35. Idle speed can not be set to desired RPM
Code 45. Oxygen sensor rich
Ok im getting the 35 because i tried to turn up the idle speed to 900 rpms so it wouldnt bog down as much. Not sure why im getting a 22. and the 45 as usual

If you cranked idle speed up, it "throws" your tps off. If you set it back down to the orginal speed, I bet the 22 wouldnt show up.

wait, another thread just reminded me. One of the wires should be 5v, one ground, and another fluxuate with movement. I think you might have tested wrong wire.
