Now it's even harder to start....grrr

Replaced the MAF sensor and the fuel pump relay and now when the car is cold, it takes even longer to fire up. This is really getting stupid. How do you check the TPS and IAC to see if they are operating? I'm going to try to set them tomorrow and re-check timing. So far I've replaced fuel filter, fuel pump relay, CTS, MAF sensor, plugs, wires look ok. And, I notice that the fuel pump is not continuing to run after I shut the car off.

At least you have some good news out of this. The pump isn't supposed to run after the car shuts off.

It sounds like you need to check the fuel pressure. If your fuel system doesn't hold the pressure like its suppose to, it will make for a very hard start. Possible problems for the fuel pressure dropping is a bad regulator or a bad check valve in the fuel pump.

i had that problem, it was my injectors leaking down. when i swapped out the 2.8 for the 3.4, problem solved. make sure its not your injectors, do you notice it running rich at all?

Actually, it is.. it's a sign of good oil pressure holding the switch closed, even without the pump spinning.

EDIT, I'm not proclaiming this was a brilliant move by GM engineers, nor am I sure it applies to all year vehicles, but mine and a number of other v6s I know of all do this

I forgot to mention, I also replaced the FPR. The pump only runs sometimes, not every time I turn off the car. I think I'm going to try the Motorvac and see what happens.
