What I wrote to Mr. Fred Gerle at Pace Setter Exhausts, the other day.

Hello Mr. Gerle,
I am hoping to be able to leave my residence in Los Angeles shortly, perhaps during this week.
I have my last (6/03) California smog check report to forward to you so you may see that my 1985 Firebird is the perfect mule for mocking up the exhaust system.
If you offer a fax number, I can send it for your examination.
Hoping to say hello, soon.
THANK YOU

THE FANTASTIC RESPONSE!
RECEIVED RIGHT NOW!

We are fortunate to have a vehicle from Mesa, AZ that is available to us. If, after inspection of the car, we cannot use it, I will be in touch with you. Thanks for your continued interest.
Fred Gerle

WHAT THIS MEANS IS THAT WE DID IT, SO FAR!

Send Mr. Fred Gelre a short kind email thanking him & telling him you most anxiously await this product to purchase.

NO ASKING for costs, let that be decided later on.

In my original emails about this product to Mr. Gerle, I told him $350-ish is the price we "expect to pay". I have NO idea, if this will be "price of the final product".

Contact Mr. Fred Gerle at
fgerle@pacesetterexhaust.com

and say "thanks so much for hearing us!"

Keep up the kind pressure, as we are this much closer to being able TO PURCHASE A STREET LEGAL HEADER BUT ONLY AFTER THIS CAR IS EXTINCT FROM A CURRENT ASSEMBLY LINE!!!!!!!
Oh why not.....
Thanks to everyone in helping make this street legal header product from Pace Setter Exhausts a reality for all of us!

Again with the exhaust pun.

Thanks again for all your effort in getting this header thing going. Those headers better be available in Canada!

I see no reason why this product could not be sold in Canada.
Give Mr. Fred Gerle a short email & mention the desire for Canadian product purchase.
Hey I like my "pun"!

Ya, for sure I'll email Mr. Gerle again. Eh! I'm thinking by the time they are available I will have the cash to buy them. And for me they definitely have to be emissions-legal (although they have never checked under my hood). But the headers are a definite mod for me and they should be for all of us.

What I am truly hoping for is a group discount with all the goodies! Engine to exhaust Tail pipe.
Hoping.
And trying.
Don't beg to much on price.
Again final price will be about what has been offered/said.
AND
with purchase of the headers, ya gotta include the "Y" pipe set up.
One would not want to choke a high performance exhaust pipe on our current "Y" pipe.
Keep up the kind pressure!
Mr. Fred Gerle of Pace Setter Exhausts is one great gent!

SAY A BIG THANK YOU PERSONALLY TO MR. FRED GERLE OF PACESETTER EXHAUSTS AT
fgerle@pacesetterexhaust.com
Make sure you ask about the rest of the currently available Cat Back system for our rides, too!
Let's give him a BIG THANKS with an increase in Pace Setters BOTTOM LINE! FROM US!
I know I need a better performing Cat Back "I" Pipe. 2 1/2" sounds just right.

I'm getting feedback that the time frame may be 60+ days (or about the time your Income Tax Check arrives!).
That time frame IS NOT from Mr. Gerle, so you know.

The headers for the 3.4 & 3800 4th gen F-bodies come w/y-pipes from pace setter. I seriously doubt they would break tradition and not offer them for the 3rd gen cars. Plus it keeps the whole package more attractive by not needing any additional fabrication to use their product.

How is this header/y-pipe combo going to affect torque? Is it going to drop it dramatically?, just move it up in the power band?, leave it about the same>

What should we expect? If it does come out right around tax return time, that would be perfect timing

tax time is already come n gone for me.

As for torqe curve, I think that depends on diameter pipe they use, and if their long or short tubes correct?

torque should stay the same or increase a little...better exhaust should help torque and hp.

yeah there would be no reason for the torque to drop at all, infact i would expect a bit of a gain

I remember when I drove my car with an open exhaust at the Y-pipe, SO MUCH HIGH END! If it's anything like that I'm going to love it

looks sweet man! used to? why doesn't it now? did that have the vented gfx?

anyways, on the headers...i wonder if the pacesetters will have bigger primaries like i need for my motor and preferably a 2.5" collector too, rather than 2.25. you can always reduce from a 2.5" to a 2.25" but going to 2.5" pipe won't help you much if your collector is smaller.
