question on 3.1 parts on my 2.8
I had a friend(not sure creditable tho) tell me I could just throw some 3.1 head's fuel injectors, Lower Intake Manifold onto my 2.8 just basic direct bolt on parts and it was no big deal and might give me some more power?
So the question is(drum roll please!) How full of it is he? Or is he correct? If he's right then what would this do for my car such as running and power wise?
Thanks Donnie H. :hail:

50/50, they will physically bolt right up. However, your ecm, vacume lines, throttle body mounting is totally different.
Power gain, ZILCH. TB size is same, air routes the same. Hes full of

what I figured!
Anything that non major and thats semi cheap most likely dont seem to add much power to our cars! not that swapping the head's is a seasy as changing the stereo but hey its a lot easier than putting a larger motor in one. Oh well was worth asking about anyway. Thanks for the answer!

It depends & one can go all out on a response.
Suffice it to say that adding/creating your own fresh air set up will gain major benefits. Usually one can make that for free or left over stuff part.
Route into engine air cleaner fresh outside cooler air for best results.

My thoughts on mod's and info that would be nice
I noticed while doing some repairs the other day that, well under the air box on my car there is no place for her to suck air from! How did you guys fix this? I thought bout cutting a few holes under the air filter, but then I am also worried about sucking too much crap into the air box from the way I wanted to cut the hole under it!
I also was thinking of using the extra air box from my old Cavalier Z24 for my Bird (get the Trans am vent) cut the hood above the air box, and attach the part from the cavalier hood (air box top) and boom almost like the z24 set up. I would want to put the vents on both sides so not too look to odd! But how odd would it look with those vents behind the headlights (and with the headlights on sure you wouldn’t get the added benefits from it as much as with them down.
When I had the Fiero's I know that there was some companies that made aftermarket TB for the 2.8.... cost was a little high (believe they was in the 500.00 range) does anyone know if there is a aftermarket TB for our cars or would the Fiero one work maybe? OUR TB'S are very tiny!
I know we have F-Body cars (hard heavy metal) but here's a weight loss ideal (we need to get some companies interested or to make us umm a carbon fiber hood (fiber glass) anything besides that huge heavy metal hood we have there (our cars are all hood almost!)
I have heard the thoughts of getting rid of that almost use less spare tire and jack. I just can’t do that however... I read on a website once how much weight you loose and what kinds of gains you get back (wasn’t very good for under 100 pounds at least) I would rather have my time to use cleaning/working and showing my bird off then sitting on the side of the road with a can of fix it all flat tire, or waiting on AAA to come out and haul my car in or something like that (what’s your time worth for the fraction you will loose for not having a spare and a jack?)
Another thing not really power wise but my car has the freaking bubbled dome T-Tops that are starting to crack (is there a glass one that will just easily bolt up? I love how light the weight of the plastic is compared to my old 300zx but hate the cracked look so I just leave my T-Top cover in all the time (I know the glass ones weight more and will make the car slower right?) I would rather have it function right tho and not look at inferior factory parts that don’t weather very well in the Arizona sun!
I also have the joyful wonderful 700R tranny, I know it’s a Automatic it will always be sorta like a 2.5 Iron Duke will always be a 4 cly car and wont put up with a lot of major power up grades.... My 700r tho at times when getting onto the freeway (not very often live in Tucson lack of them semi close by) when your in 2nd on the on ramp and the car reach's the speed it should kick up into 3rd at well sometime it will sometimes it wont! It has got a lot better at this lately tho. The car was owned by a vet before I got it and only had 75k when I got the car and I would assume that he didn’t drive it very hard (but we all know what assuming usually makes us right?) I know the weird thing I have read about the downshift from 4th to 3rd at half throttle, but what is up with my 2nd gear issues? The only thing I can think is maybe the car is running out of power? Like I said sometimes it does it fine others it runs right up to where it starts getting into the redline and I let it up from the floor and she shifts out great. Maybe the wind is blowing too much for her to reach the power to make her shift? She never gets into the cut off when she does it either so I think it’s the wind or something like that holding her back. She will tach right up to the 6k and run there unless you let up on her. Ok that’s it on the tranny!
Cut or remove the curve from my mass airflow sensor? Is this something that is good or bad to do? I just don’t want to fry a part that’s in good working order to get a 2hp gain for a month. If it’s a good thing to do how should I go about doing it?
I have read about other's here sucking water into there motor's how did this happen? That’s the main reason I am worried about cutting out the area below the air filter, does this mod make our car's UN water friendly? If so how do we get some real fresh air into them without hacking our hood up or removing the pass side headlight and mounting a K-N where the headlight was before?
I can’t think of anything else right now maybe besides pulleys and chip's.... I have heard a lot of negative on the chips lately so think I might just totally side step that one. I live in Tucson as well so I need to keep all the emission crap working as well (cant remove the egr, cat) I have a flow master on it now with the dual out tips one on each side. Is there a real dual set up that we can do with our cars and if so where is it found at and can most exhaust shops just make us one? What’s the story on the headers as well?
Thanks for all the info and for help with this sorry for the *ella long post here

Fiberglass hoods are easily available at a cost (see above sponsors).
Ya wouldn't believe how difficult it was to get us to the point of the actual possibility of street legal headers!
Rest of your ideas (except Convincing the manufacturer that a "dead car" represents money to them) is easy, you have a great idea, put it on the car & show us pics.
I, like others have devised "stuff" to help breathing on my Firebird. I used left over stuff & can honestly say that at 40MPH & below, no big diff, but get me on freeway & doing 50-ish plus & man does extra cool outside fresh air help big time!
Put your idea on the car, I'd love to see your stuff! Sounds like a great option, and I've tried to accomplish your idea, myself. I am using my "beater" hood for experimenting, I have a spare perfect hood for the final hood scoop idea.

Carbon fiber is made from sheets of weaved processed graphite/carbon and held together by an epoxy. Much like fiberglass. Exept that Carbon fiber is stronger than steel and weights ALOT less than fiberglass.... it is also expensive.

How to get fresh/more air to the air filter? Could try this Just make sure your either enclose the filter or shield it from splashing water
.
It worked for me, but in my swap, battery is going there now & new cai is going on the otherside
Yeah carbon fiber is too expensive (unles you have **** & need that bullit proof shifter ****
) the CF driveshaft is like, $800~$900 bucks.
