shaved my ant look
I bought a ant from autozone for $8 its one of those ones that comes with a thin wire you put on your windshield only i put the wire inside the dash..
I cut the factory ant even with the fender and dremel'd the metal down some. Put some metal body screen in the hole and a thin layer of bondo(i dont have a welder and i like doing things myself)
let it dry, sanded it,bondo again, sanded it, another layer of metal , bondo, sand then painted to match. The bondo wont crack because its not hanging in the hole, theirs the remainder of the factory ant ,metal screen and bondo in the hole.
Looks pretty good considering how i did it...

Nice job! Did you spray any sealant to the bottom of the antenna, inside the fender? I'd just hate to see you get any rust in there. If you pop the inner fender off (plastic rivets, pull the center out with pliers, then pop the rivet out), you could easily spray some undercoating or paint or whatever up at the base of your shaving job.
I have a different antenna, made by Metra, it's an amplified sucker. My buddy was telling me about a rectangular patch antenna but I couldn't find it anywhere. Here's details (with pics and part #) on the one I bought, along with a guy who says he tried them all, and got the best reception by hiding the original whip antenna inside his dash!

What I don't like about mine is that some moron theif might look thru my windshield (I'm going to put it above the rear view mirror), think that it's a TV antenna, and break one of my windows or something.

Thanks Tom, yeah i sprayed the inside down with paint, soaked it actually since the finish didnt need to be nice inside the fender.Tom what about putting yours inside the head liner? No one would see it then.

My Mom's 04 Maxima does not have an antenna , I wonder how they did that ? I know there is no visible wire anywhere .
