New 1/8 mile record!!
just thought i'd post my new times. just got home from the track a few minutes ago and i ran a 9.51! my previous best was a 9.61, i gained a whole tenth! i beat my old best 60' time too. it was 2.08 once on street tires and once on slicks. tonight i pulled a 2.06 60' on 235/60/15 Dunlop GT Qualifiers (street tires). i am very happy right now so i just thought i'd post. oh yea, the 9.51 was at 73.5 mph and i think it could have gone quicker if my tranny was better.
PS guess i should mention that i changed from the 4.10 gear to a 3.73...still got the zexel torsen posi.

thanks, i was kinda surprised it went that much quicker too. hopefully i'll be getting another 700r4 soon that i can rebuild with all new clutches and everything, put another shift kit in and do all the good stuff and end up with a better tranny.

Alan,
What RPM were you doing through the traps with the 3.73's Vs the 4.10's in the 1/8 mile? A 235/60/15 is 26" tall I think.
I bet the 4.10's were too steep, especially in the 1/4 mile tracks. Were you having to shift into OD in the 1/4?
Good job! I'll be coming through town around the first weekend in April and hopefully get the headers from you.

Eric,
i never really looked at the tach when i was going through the traps with the 4.10s but i did last night and it was around 4,000-4,500 i think. i don't know exactly how though cause i know i was somewhere around 6,000 going through the 1/4 traps with the 4.10s. yea, the tires are about 26" tall. the 4.10s, i thought, were good for the 1/8 but, yes, they were way too steep for the 1/4. the car will not hit 4th @ WOT so, no, i was/am going through the 1/8 and 1/4 traps in the top of 3rd gear. sounds good, i was just thinking a little while ago and wondering when you were planning to come back this way. i'll wait to hear from ya...maybe i can take you for a ride in my car this time...might have a small block in the s-10 by then too.
edit: i'm shooting for high 14s in the 1/4 now. yes, still N/A too.

Yeah, I thought the 4.10's might be a little too much for the 1/4- heck, the TPI guys usually go with 3.42's or 3.23's, as those motors make all power under 5000.
I will probably be there the first weekend in April and MAYBE I'll drive the S10.... though the car at 25+ MPG with AC sounds better than the S10 at 16-17 (GOT to get a lockup converter in there and get the crusie RPM down) but I may drive it anyway.
I bet you'll do a wee bit better on fuel with the 3.73's now too.

that'd be cool if you drive the s-10!
yea, i think my fuel mileage is a little better...i drove about 35 miles to the track, made 9 passes, then about 35 miles back home and used about a 1/4 tank of gas. i think that's a little better than it had been doing.

WHich track? Lakeland or Imokolee?
Well you could have come to Savannah tonight and waxed the S10, I had one pass at 9.46 and the rest were in the 9.50 to 9.80 range. NO traction, the drag radials don't bite or even wheel hop no matter what the pressure.

i was at lakeland. you still running an open rearend in that truck?? my dad just put a set of tractioin bars on his truck. he's running the 4.10s now with no posi...it sure didn't wheel hop anymore. once he gets a posi put in there, he should be in good shape, well, until the 350 goes in. once we get the 350 and posi in there, he can bolt on the slicks and it should hookup pretty good. what size are those drag radials you've got?

I have the Zexel-Torsen in there, running BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radials in a 255/50/16. They are mounted on GTA crosslace rims. They are used and near bald but I have been told that's when they bite the best.
There were some real hooptie crap thirdgens there too last night, why does everyone with a piece of crap LG4 think that putting dual exhaust that drags the ground and trying to kick it out in front of the rear tires and putting airshocks in to raise the back 3' off the ground (so they only loose 1 or two mufflers a week) will make the car so much faster?

Nope, no traction bars, but I don't develop enough traction to get the spring wrap to need the tractionbars to cure anyway....
I don't know what the thridgens ran because I never lined up with one. Savannah doesn't have a display at the end of the track, maybe back when it was a 1/4 mile they did before the insurance made them shorten it. They call out the times run over the PA, but last night was sort of a street wars thing so they weren't calling out anything- you get your time and the opponents on the timeslip. Then on a regular test and tune about half the cars put N/T on the window so they won't call it out because they are either sandbagging or trying to get money runs and want to keep people guessing.

Man you must have a lot of mods on the 3.1 to knock down those kind of times. If you can get the 60' times down to 1.9xx you can definately go 14's although you should be really close to them now. My TPI 305 with lt's and a homemade cold air ran a 14.70 today with a 9.37 1/8 at 73.87 so you are definatelt getting close.

yea, i've got about all the mods you can do.
i think it'll go into the 14s now, hopefully we'll find out this thursday!
talkin about the idle, i'll take some video of it idling/drive/racing whatever and post a link to it. don't know exactly when i will get that done but hopefully soon.
edit: Eric, i've got a flowmaster on it now too...sounds way better than it did before. the first time one of my friends heard it after i put the flowmaster on, he thought i had put a v8 in it.
