For one, I keep a check on the timing almost weekly.
Another I check the plugs every 2-3 weeks.
I keep an eye on my tire pressures.
Lastly I don't use the ****ty gas that you probly do. Only BP 92 goes into my tank.
The QUALITY matters more then the 'Octane" level. Do not ecepct to get anything when the gas you use costs 1.50... I burn through that in under 200...

You can call whatever you want. I will take a pic next time of the ODO and the gas amount I put it if you want.

Full list of ignition/Fuel...
AC Delco... .050 gap.
CrapZone $26 wires.
Factory coil
Replaced factory/delco ignition modulator.
19 Lb TPI injectors.(cleaned by cruzinperformance)
12 Mo Old fuel filter.
factory fuel pump.
9 Mo Old O2 sensor.

I also unplugged the EGR, I thought it would have hurt the MPG, but it made no noticible difference.
No air pump.
High flow Cat(but I DO NOT SUGGEST THEM) I personally hate mine.
2.5" Dyno cat back.

I have actually gotten 356.8, but it ran dry... and that sucked as the low gas light does not work, and I do not feel like dropping the tank to fix it.

i dont get 93 cuz when i do it only gets me an extra 30 miles of the full tank so i say save the .35$ a gallon and go with 87octane

my friends 91 ws6 gets 240 outa the tank and thats when he hotrods it

Thats why I do not have a cat anymore, can't really get more high flow than that. I was just like screw the cat.

I would like to see the proof of your mileage too, cause I have a hard time believing it. I'm not saying that i'll believe you once I see, there are ways of manipulation, but i'll be more willing to believe you.

You will not get gas mileage any better with a ls1, they eat gas pretty good.

A stick is a tad better on gas as you can get into 5th by 35 easy without bogging it but I think the downshift is the biggest gas hog on a stick.

Sounds neat and you stop much better down shifting but I seam to get much better mileage when I'm not down shifting every gear at a stop.

Doward here.... 320 per tank's not unreal... I do 300 each time i fill up, and i'm putting about 12 gal back into it. 320 I could do, but don't like it when I take a turn quick, and she dies

The furthest I've gone yet, was 346 miles, but I rolled into the gas station on fumes! I think it was like 15.3 gal to fill her back up!

I usually fill up at 200 cause I know my gas guage lies.

I use to get about 17'ish in town. I have pulled 20-21 in town.

On the one road trip it has been on, it got between 23-28.

New engine, I have yet to work out the bugs, so no-telling. I know when my o2 meter is pegged rich, and throwing rich code, its not doing to well

Yep just about an V8 gets better than 11-12

You must be leaking. Car would really run bad if it used that much fuel. i think?

I get about 270 miles to the tank. That's with high flow cat, flowmaster exhaust, K&N air filter with the stupid container removed that comes stock with a 91 v6. Auto tranny and I do 60miles each way to work. Wondering if there is anyway to increase my mpg?

Chip burning.
Have the injectors cleaned.
Do a complete tune up(if not already done)
Take the excess stuff from the car.

When u restart the car u wont have the light come right back on, it will only come on when ur car has enough time to register if something is amiss, flush out the code and see what it was, my bet is 32,33,34,44,or45 i have gotten all these codes only when driving for a long period of time, and i seem to only get 13mpg
U can find the pins to cross to flush out the codes, any Qs Message me and ill forward the tech to get the codes and how to read them and what they mean...

My LS1 is far from stock, and at 386 out back gets about the same mileage as my '89 V6 - ~22-23mpg in my regular suburban and highway driving. When it was stock I pushed ~29mpg on a long highway trip.

I just started getting a code 32 in my car and I only get it when I get off the highway at my work which is a good distance away. I'm getting roughly 18mpg right now which is mostly highway driving...

As far as cleaning my injectors goes, would I have to take the top of the motor apart and take them out and clean them or would using injector cleaner suffice and if so which would be the best to use?

I got some stp injector cleaner, drove a full tank of gas got 277mp tank on premium then filled on premium again and put the stp crap in and just did 325mp tank. I've also had the egr go dead on me in that time so I don't know if that helps or hurts, that's also with having to do 90mph to work today cause I was running late.

Yeah, I don't know why people keep thinking the V6 fbodys get better gas mileage. They don't

The only advantage to a V6 thirdgen is insurance and that is only sometimes.

That is a joke right?
The 3rd gen V6's DO get better Mileage then 3rd gen V8's.

My old TBI 90 got 270 if I was lucky.
A 88 TPI got 290.
My 92 V6 gets 320 religously with 1/8 tank left.

Compare same gen cars, we know that the LS1's get upwards of 280+ depending on how they are driven. But you also go through many more sets of tires.

No, its not joking. My 305 TBI car got about 20mpg. My 89RS v6 gets about 12mpg. (it needs help I know). The 92 Firebird v6 with 70k miles on it got about 18mpg.

Maybe your v8's just needed a tuneup or something.

I've always gotten crappy mileage; unless I'm heading out on a long inter-state trip, where it's a constant 65-70 mph. Around town, forget it- my mileage is bad. It's just a smaller engine trying to push a heavy car...

No, they were in top shape. The V6 should be getting much more MPG/overal mileage to the tank then the V8's.

As stated above, My V6 was al teast 30-40 miles more per tank then my V8's ever did.

If a V6 used more gas than a V8 wouldn't that be one poor running V6 and very obvious????

5.7
2.8
300 miles
15 gal gas

the 2.8 should used less, at WOT for 300 or 35mph.

Remember the 2.8 was way too small for the thirdgen. A 3800 or something would be a different story. I think the whole V6 thing was to appease the EPA and insurance companies. I haven't ever noticed a real difference in gas mileage between the V8 and V6 cars.

They allways had 6 cylinder cars. I think the 4 cyl iron duke was the EPA pleaser. Them old 300 straight 6s ran good.

The old sixes were rated more than 2.8. The 2.8 was a seriously underpowered motor. To be fair so was the L03.
