Need help fast! The passenger light doesn't come up anymore! How do I open it?!?!
Wanted to drive my car tonight, and what do I see... Only the driver side light goes up and the other one stay down... How do I open up the other one manually? Do you think I can do something to fix it cheap, I know they cost a lot to fix so that's why I'm asking you guys if you have any tips please share them with me... Thanks!
These units are rather easy to swap in & out if need be.
Other option is to open hood & turn the **** on the motor housing, while one inside flips open/close the dash headlight switch.
In end, ya may need to swap it out.

Sounds like your bearing/gel things inside the gear are shot. I had the same problem. Does the motor whirr but doesn't push the light up? If this is the case, you need new gel inserts. Up at the top of the page is the link for "Top Down Solutions" and look for their headlight repair kit. That's all you'll need! Might as well do both, because my left headlight died first, and then 2months later the right one died. (this is only for 87 and up Firebirds)

OR you could save some money and go buy some crap from homedepot and fix them yourself. Do a search on the net, theirs like 3903750974 sites about fixing this problem. Mine was fixed (by prev owner) with some steel *****.

You sure its not just stuck??? Did you try taping or lifing on it???
I havea bra on mine and in the winter they get stuck easy. The bra take up most of the free play so just a tad bit of ice makes them stick. But after i tap them clean or give it a small jerk they allways pop up.

Under the hood latch area (go underneath the front bumper, in front of the radiator), you should see the two-pin (87-92 style) weatherpak connector for the headlight motor. Unplug it. Now you can pop the hood and spin the little **** to raise the headlight.

Everytime i see a firebird with the headlites up and off during the day i shudder.
Looks ugly as hell. Seriously if you do a search on here or the net you see how easy it is to fix them.
Im not saying not to do what TOm says, Dont drive around with your lites down at night! im just saying its not a hard fix and makes the car look alot better than up all the time.

Glad to hear it's working again! How much did it cost?
LOL, Br()bert, I think the same think about a Firebird "winking" down the road. Thats why I kept all my old headlight pieces (from my accidents); I have two motors I could re-use; but I'll have to get creative with the duct tape!!

Cost me 30$ (Canadian dollar...). Someone know why this headlight is now so slow to get up and down? The guy didn't replaced anything, he said a bushing or something like that was not where it was supposed too and he replaced it in place... But why now it is so slow? Now he says he can't fix except maybe if he change the motor for the headlight...

Hey, just to tell you I got it fixed right this time! Now both headlight goes uo and down at the same time! Wow, does it feel great! Also got my new turn signal lever with cruise, delay wipers and washer that I ordered on eBay. Looks so good now, the old one was in bad shape, it didn't had the white writing on it anymore, was broken etc... Tought that with replacing the lever my cruise would finally works... But it still doesn't!
Wonder what the problem is, I have the car for 3 years now and it never worked and now, with the new lever, it still doesn't work... Ya oughta see the vacuum hose nightmare on my 1985 S-10 Blazer Cruise Control.
Kinda an evil thought to make the cruise activated at 85 MPH and see how well it holds the speed now that the Blazer is 3.4 powered!
90-95 MPH was top speed on down hill & GOOD WIND with 2.8 power Blazer & some common mods. Flying Bricks!

Also some have a gear box for the spedo. spedo cable goes into a cruise box then from there into the car. The gear box or vacuum line maybe the problem.
