I'd start questioning 2.8 block integrity at 400hp... but the only way to get that much power out of it would be ~20psi and possibly a nitrous shot... or a really big nitrous shot... and everything besides the block would break... unless you count the snapped connecting rod cracking the block.. which means everything would break.

Reliably?

probably about 300Hp for the 2.8 and 3.1. Maybe 50-75 more for the 3.4 because of the stronger casting. If the bottom end is completely rebuilt, forged crank, rods, pistons....who knows. This sort of thing hasn't been done yet as far as I know. Be a pioneer, I myself just want my motor to make it to 200 horses at the wheels with about 250ftlbs. I'm pretty sure that's an attainable goal without touching the bottom end. It'll make for a fun daily driver, There's already a member on here with a 3.1 in the LOW 15's. I'm fairly certain he'll be seeing some 14 second passes before long.

Raven pulled ~13.8 with his 3.1/3100 blazer on 8psi... we've got alot of catching up to do in our F-bodies.

On a

On a stock bottom end? How reliably can boost be applied without shortening the engine life? I've been thinking of doing a turbo too, but I dunno.

This is for those who question the bottom end on the 2.8.
Do a search on eBay for either "V6" or "2.8" in the car and truck parts section/engines and components, and you will come up with a seller who claims to be selling a crankshaft capable of holding 500 HP. Now, I have no idea what to make of this, mostly because the seller starts pricing at $100, and I believe in the saying that you get what you pay for. If the crank can actually hold 500 HP, who knows what can happen, but we will most definitely need stronger con rods and other goodies.

Ehh.. "cast" really turns me off when it comes to performance crankshafts. If I were serious, I'd have Callies set me up withsomething custom and bulletproof.. but I'm a dreamer
