Oil sending unit??????????????

I was checking out my friends V6 and noticed his car was slightly smoking on the drivers side and it stopped smoking,so we opened the hood and found no oil leaks or anything visable ,so is it possible that the oil sendeing unit that is connect to the oil filter connector might be defective?...and if we change this, would it stop the smoke since the source apears to be coming from there?

Verify that the sending unit is on tight, also the oil filter while your reaching there.

My oil sending unit went bad, and caused a steady leak on that side of the motor. Whats the mileage on the car? Its very likley that it may have gone bad.

Also, i'd just replace the thing anyways. Their 3 bucks at autozone.
