is $2,00 a ripoff for a 84 sc
In my area u can get a z28 for $2,500 with 210,00km
is teh guy askin to much if the body is all oxidized and sumwhat rusted out?

I paid 1,900 for my sc, 3yrs ago. It had a freshly rebuilt motor with less that 7,000ml on it. Perfect body, no rust & air conditioning worked.

I paid $ 830 for my 84 sport coupe, and it came with rust over the wheels and under the doors. I personally would not pay over $1000 for a car with a bunch of rust on it, unless it was mechanically GREAT. But the only way that kind of rust will ever go away is if you cut the rusted sections of the car right off and weld in new pieces. Otherwise, if you just sand the rust away and repaint the car, the rust will come back through (every time) in probably 2 to 3 years--maybe quicker in a moist climate. Look for one that's rust free, and you'll be much better off.

$2,000 for an '84 sc with a v6? Is that Canadian (I noticed you're from Canada) or US dollars?
Body rot is the worst to fix... I'd rather have a car with a beat up motor and rust-free body than have a car with a great motor and rust. The only way to kill rust is to cut it off the car and weld in fresh steel.

Note though in some areas 3rdgens sell at much higher prices then in others. My bird cost me $1000 from a used car dealer, severly dented passenger side door and a fair curb rub on that fender, to top this all off it was sold with a presumed blown engine (flat cam). Now consider 2 years before that I got my 85 Z28 for $3000 from a private party, with bad interior and faded paint. I cant touch any running 3rdgens in colorado for under $1500 and thier rusted, beaten smashed buckets of crap that make the purchase condition of the bird seem like it just rolled off the showroom floor and was sold 50% off.
That said, always figure out what the cost of the car is then what will need to be dumped into it to make it a good running and looking ride add a $1000 on top of that for problems that will pop up. Once you have this calculation you will probably find a better car cheaper. Always avoid cars with rust, dents can be fixed fairly easy but rust comes back and if theres one visible spot of rust the car WILL be rittled with hidden spots 99.9% of the time.

And yes, that is WAY the hell too much.
I bought mine about five months ago now, $500 for it. 87 SC with a V6. Not Aircared, running smooth but apparently leaking oil.
Not a spot of rust, no dents, slightly peeling Van Nuys paint, new t-tops, nice wheels, decent system.
During about four months of looking, I looked at more than a few that people wanted rediculous money for. One that stands out is an 86 SC hardtop, it had old steel Corvette rallys, which almost got me buying the car, the inside was damp, the engine hesitated badly, there were rust spots everywhere and some dents along the passenger side, including a streak down the door where someone rode it along a pole in a parking structure. The owner wanted $2000, but settled on $1500. I saw the one I bought on the way back from the bank, and bought it right then and there.
